I live in Birmingham.
The fact that at 1,000 plate fundraiser was held in “Mountain Brook” is not a surprise.
What does the elitist “Republican” have to offer me.
Cocktails and chummy conversation.
What has the “Republican” party become?
In a word, as a resident of the area, @uck Mountian Brook.
What part of B’ham?
Exactly what I am talking about. The phrase “Mountain Brook” has had a negative connotation statewide ever since the days of Wallace, when he used to always rail against the town.
For my part, I personally could afford the dinner, but my problem is that it is being hosted at the other side of the state, Thompson could have picked a better place to go. Then again, Thompson is the first Alabama native to run for the presidency since Wallace. The thing with that though is, he grew up in one of the most left feaning white counties in the state.
But you help illustrate my point. I think there is a serious Roy Moore threat going into next year. I thought he’d lose in the primary, but Riley’s performance was more a function of how midterm primaries work in this state rather than real support for him. Moore still remains a threat next year, and I think he may seriously consider a run, just to gum up the works, similar to what Robertson did 20 years ago.
Don’t paint every successful person as elitist. Remember a large part of who we are comes from supporting the free enterprise and capitalist system. Also at least they support Conservatives, there is a large number of snots with lots of cash who love the Dems.
When push comes to shove, the wealthy person only has one vote, just like you do.
