Ever watch someone from Jiffy? They drain the oil, and within seconds screw the drain plug back in, leaving almost another 1/4 of a quart of dirty oil still in the engine, that would have otherwise slowly drained out if they'd left the drain plug out, and allowed it to drain.
If you like your engine, leave the drain plug off for at least 20 minutes and let it drain out.
I’ve never noticed that. In fact, the place I go to (not a “Jiffy Lube”) usually does the drain plug right away and then leaves it to drain while doing other things like grease joints and oil filter leave putting the plug back in til the end right before adding oil.
