Another favorite scam at these places is to test your battery and pronounce it “bad” - I had one of those that failed - a year and a half after they tried to tell me it needed replacing.
I use these places for oil changes, but my automatic response when they try to upsell me is “thanks - I’ll replace it myself”.
I used to go to these quick oil change places all the time. I've never had them tell me there was something wrong with my car. They did frequently try to get me to replace the oil filter.
My dealership will do an oil change for nearly the same price, so I go there now.
