As a Marylander, all I have to say is that our elected officials want to offer our state as a SANCTUARY STATE to illegals. I might have to move to Virginia.

Chart out your state/property taxes, if you are a homeowner, over the next 10 years or so. If you stay in place in Maryland, factor in a steady rise of taxpayer funded social services for illegal aliens, not to mention their working under the table, tax fee, and Western Union-izing their proceeds back down to Mexico or C.A.

Then run the comparatives if you were to be in a no-nonsense, taxpayer friendly local area in Virginia, experiencing a linear year-on-year decrease in illegal aliens.

From four (4) long term key perspectives it might be wise for you to move from Maryland--if you can bear that thought.

--Increased tax burden due to social services.

--Increased tax burden due to additional police needed, emergency room visits (gunshot wounds, drunk driving).

--Property value decrease.

--Crime increase. (Your life could become more dangerous).

Just run the numbers, you might have to make a cold, hard decision which will be good for you over the long run.

I’ve lived in Arlington County all my life and I also remember when it had no illegals. Parts of Arlington now look more like a barrio slum in L.A.

tolllllllerant and diverrrrrrrse sanctuary cities that are only going to go from BAD to WORSE

That is the key to start a domino effect. Once the criminals move en mass to nearby counties, their sudden concentration will cause exponential rise in housing problems, crime, drunk driving, ER shutdowns, etc.

The "tolerant" citizens will start grumbling and demanding similar anti-illegals laws, which, upon passing, will create a much larger problem for the next nearby "sanctuary" cities and counties. The influx will not be "tolerated" because of the shear numbers and the above scenario will be repeated even faster.

I bet you, during these county-to-county migrations, some of the illegals will run out of money and places to live and work. Unemployment in the illegal population will increase astronomically to the point that they have to leave the country and go home.

Putting pressure on the "sanctuaries" will eventually solve the problem before violence is triggered, hopefully.

If it can be engineered that way, IMHO this is much more desirable than massive, taxpayer supported and bureaucracy led deportation of 12-20 million people out of our country (imagine the logistics/transport, security, food, housing, medical, paperwork, airline flights, insurance costs), back to all parts of the world, which could bankrupt us--a one way coach for just one Chinese back to China would be $600. Imagine how many Chinese who are here illegally and would demand John Q. Public pay for it.

Self deportation through attrition, by cutting off the benefits, penalizing workers, asking for proof of legality to use services, etc. will have a chilling effect and since they never assimilated in the first place, with no allegience to this country, I would predict they will be discouraged, disheartened, longing for home, and they will get the hell out.

We are homeowners in Charles Co., MD since Nov. 2001. We just got our property tax bill for the Oct 1 2007 - Sept 30 2008 calendar year and they went up $210.00 (from what we paid in the last calendar year). I will cut & paste your advice for future reference.

Honestly, I don’t think we’ll move from where we are located in Southern Md. (work, schools, etc.), but you never know... jsut last week our county sheriff’s officers arrested 8 Mara Salvatrucha gang members in our county who were allegedly *fishing* at one of our beaches...

Fishing, yea right...
