Not to diminish the extent of Clinton’s treason, but I think people put far too much weight on the technology transfer he allowed. Listening to some of my fellow freepers, it seems like the U.S. is the only source of high (or even not so high) technology out there.

Actually not so in this case. The help the Chinese got from Loral et al. (courtesy of Clinton's intervention) was directly applicable to accurizing and MIRVing -- the application implemented in this missile.

Likewise, it would take specialized knowledge to tell whether the "miniaturizing" the Chinese did on their warheads in order to MIRV this missile was also obtained from the U.S. Given that this missile has appeared in a deployed, final-production configuration about 11 years after the Wen Ho Lee scandal, it sounds like this particular warhead's development was not achieved independently of their intelligence takings.

Comment? Dissent?

Actually, one of the pieces of technology the we DID give them under the Clinton watch really did have major military implicatons.

It was a very special computer controlled milling machine that was able to do things like go inside a cast titanium structure and mill out previously unreachable areas. If my memory serves me right, it was technology developed and owned by TRW.

This was highly classified and protected technology, freed for export by the Commerce Department which had the newly acquired ability to do just that in the Clinton Administration.

Using this device, 10-20% additional weight savings in a component can be realized. That translates IMMEDIATELY into more range or higher payload in combat aircraft, especially if it is a large item such as a titanium wing-box as is found in an F-14 or a B-1 bomber.

Or milled rings used in the body of an IBCM.

HUNTER INTRODUCES “NUCLEAR SECRETS SAFETY ACT” (Duncan Hunter - 2000)

>>>”The Clinton-Gore Administration has, through fumbling incompetence and short-sighted policies, lost critical defense secrets,” said Hunter. “The recent incident at Los Alamos National Laboratory is indicative of the irresponsibility and disregard this administration has given to protecting America’s national security. This legislation begins to correct the problem.”<<<

The actually investigation is at post 40 of that thread.

In fact, it was even greater than any of us know. He allowed Red China to have our super computers with our defense information on them. You can ask Congressman Hunter about it, because he's the one who told us.

We are underestimating them just like we did the Japanese prior to WWII.
