“I have had water bills near $400 when I forgot to turn a sprinkler off over night. I now have mechanical timers on every faucet and I use a lot of drip irrigation also.”

I once left the hose in the full rain barrel. For some reason, it started to siphon the water back through the hose and the faucet pipe...and I ended up with 50 gallons of water in my basement, LOL!

That was fun. Not!

“Then some pencil pushing City Manager...” and why is it so RARE to find one of these with a LICK of Common Sense?

(Thanks for letting me unload. This stuff just IRKS me to no end...and there’s never an end in sight, either!)

“The amount of water saved is incidental, compared to other use.”

Exactly! Can you imagine the massive amounts of water the City uses to keep the public Golf Courses green? How about the amount of water used to make coffee just to keep the ‘Government Drones’ lucid for a day so they can think up more ways to gouge and tax us to death? LOL!

And how do they not SEE that they, as INDIVIDUALS, are going to pay for this stuff, too? How DO legislators of any stripe justify paying more in taxes too, for anything? Are they SO blind in their zealousness to control the rest of us that they don’t see that they’re restricting their OWN freedoms?

Just ONCE, I’d like to see some legislator stand up and say, “You know what? I’m not going to vote for this because ‘I’ don’t want to pay any more in taxes, either!”

Conservatives don’t do this NEARLY enough, IMHO.

average Madisonian pays $560.00 a year

Nearing that amount, unbelievable, until I added it up and saw for myself.

“Yikes! Granted, I have to pay additional electric to use the well pump, but still. That cost is obscene!”

Particularly when you consider that “conserving” water is a ludicrous concept, given that the quantity of water on the planet is a constant.

I looked it up the other day. There are 327 billion trillion gallons of water on the planet at any given time. Granted, most of it is salt water, but gee...we learned to desalinate water hundreds of years ago, plus, think of the boon to the ‘Gourmet Salt Market’ for the yuppies. *SMIRK*

I’m glad my outrage isn’t lost on Freepers. Socialists are such a stupid lot.

"It's like, Do you want to conserve water, do you want to protect water quality?' nobody says no to that.

It's like saying, "Answer yes or no, do you still beat your wife?"

Use any methods to advance your agenda.

My mom was just complaining to me about how her water bill has gone up. Apparently, people in cleveland have been conserving so much water, they need to raise the rates to cover salaries and infrastructure.

“...they need to raise the rates to cover salaries and infrastructure.”

Thanks for that! I wouldn’t doubt that that’s a factor here, too. It’s not so much that the Socialists want to “Save the Water for the Whales” but that they want to line their OWN pockets!

Good catch. :)
