Following the release of a new TV ad on Monday, the Mitt Romney campaign has been hitting the video game content issue hard this week, most notably during a swing through Colorado.
A new press release lays out a Romney theme protecting our children. Following along the lines of the ocean of filth TV spot, the campaign pledge says in regard to video games:
Governor Romney Will Punish And Fine Retailers For Selling Excessively Violent And Sexually Explicit Video Games To Minors.
While the current system of voluntary self-regulation of video games has improved, we still need to do more to protect our children. There must be strong punishments and fines for retailers that sell violent and sexually explicit video games to minors.
GP: Were not quite sure what Romney is saying here. While he gives props to the strides made by the ESRB, hes clearly advocating retail sales legislation. Does he have a secret plan to circumvent the constitutional issues that have sunk every other such attempt?
He just lost.
GTA: San Andreas is a lot of fun, even though it’s a very left-wing game.
For all of you who thought his nanny tendencies would stop with his "Health Insurance for everyone!" thing here in Massachusetts.
Tipper Gore would be so proud.
Save us from the video games!!!!!
This idiocy just dropped him 50 points in my book. Having seen this, I’m not sure I would vote for such a bozo, even if they are the nominee.
I have the urge to destroy savage orcs.
I agree I`ve been a Romney supporter but I don`t want big brother on the internet and in video games. When he stuck with reforming the government to kill duplication and over bureaucracy, and some reforms to help the economy, and increasing the size of the military I was with him.
Now that hes on to his morality police ideas.. I`m reconsidering and going to undecided. I`d vote for Hillary if she left the internet alone, versus a Republican who was going to regulate and police it.
Same here I used to work for a video game company years ago, and have been a gamer all my life. Not sure I could vote for him even against Hillary now.
The retail side of the gaming industry polices itself pretty strictly. GameStop/EB Games just upped the penalties for selling games to underaged kids, including the immediate termination of the employee who did so and the store manager. They want to keep the government out big time and will do what they can to do so.
Yeah, I’m 31 years old and I got carded at a Gamestop yesterday.
It’s one way to get Thompson’s support (if you want the loony fringe vote)
I am ready to vote democrat if they will restore some of our rights. Sadly I think that they just want to take away different rights : (
Different agenda same results.
.
What about that one where you strap the dog on your car and try to drive across the nation ?
Is that one still ok ?
