Clinton's Hostile Preschool Takeover
IBD ^ | JUly 20, 2007 | DARCY OLSEN AND BRUCE FULLER

Sen. Hillary Clinton ignited few fireworks, speaking before the nation's largest teachers union over the July 4 holiday. But one proposal is proving explosive: state-run preschool for all families.

Clinton's proposal — introduced Thursday in the Senate — would give states $28 billion over five years to incorporate the nation's 120,000 preschools now run in firms, churches and storefronts into a government-run system. The former Goldwater girl has come a long way from the western ways and neighborhood values she once embraced.

Her universal preschool idea is sparking heated debate over the back fence and in policy circles. The question is basic: How much control should the government have in raising and teaching our young children?

It's Clinton's sharp tack to the left, arguing that government should take over small, independent preschools that make this super-nanny proposal reminiscent of her ill-fated single-payer health plan.

Most Americans would agree that every child, not just children whose parents can afford early education, should have the same chance to succeed. Clinton's plan, still sketchy in design, could usefully reach blue-collar families who can't afford preschool — but it delivers a brave new world to already overburdened school systems.

“Most Americans would agree that every child, not just children whose parents can afford early education, should have the same chance to succeed.”

Oh, FGS. This proposal makes the incredibly arrogant assumption that parents are totally inadequate at providing any type of education, even preschool, to their children.

I wonder what type of preschool education was given to Chelsea ?

My goodness... Hillary can't even manage her own family life, but thinks she can take care of all families in the United States with her socialist program?

Sheesh!

Sheez, the top tier Dems are all looney. Hillary is being painted as a moderate, but compared to Obama and Edwards here is what we see:

All 3 basically - For abortion; Gays; Socialization; Universal Health Care; Give me your kids at age 4; gays indoctrinating your kids up to and past age 23; no WOT; no military; no Bill of Rights (1st - 10th Amendment).

Have I left anything out? If any of these nutball moonbats gets to be POTUS, there will be a revolution. Just try to take guns away from 85 million gun owners. Those individuals who do not live by the rule of law (Constitution) will learn about the 2nd Amendment the hard way. Our founding fathers realized what a Tyrannical Government was and provided for the protection of the citizens of this country with basic rights that cannot be taken away.

Apparently Clinton thinks that every kid should be taught to play with the same toy and under supervision. Good thing she didn’t oversee Einstein. He would have wound up mediocre at best. Gore is a good example of Village teaching. There is no possible other explanation except his!!!!

Don’t forget my governor, Janet Napolitano, is also big on this preschool stuff.

I wonder what these candidates have said about homeschooling? I can only imagine.............

I think these people, if they get power, will go after and outlaw homeschooling so fast it will curl your hair.

WE are going to have labor shortages as the boomers retire. They need to be working on teaching kids more in fewer years so they can go into the labor force.

Here's Hill teaching a class several years ago, with her shirt dedicated to Miss Monica:

Here's the parents' reaction:

Well how else is she going to rule the world unless she brainwashes kids in their infancy?

There is no credible evidence that preschool delivers any permanent advantage to a child. None. Advantages derived by preschool attendance are usually indiscernible compared to those who did not by the third grade. Of course, if the kids learn to read at a third grade level at three like mine did and then keep going... :-))

This is just more teachers' union welfare pandering, as if they don't already have enough power.

Government and education together has got a strangle hold on this country and the D’craps like it that way. One of the reasons I voted in 2000 for GW was his campaign ideas about education including charter schools and a voucher system.Unfortunatly when he got elected him and Ted Kennedy gave us the “no child left behind” government program instead !!!

Love your tagline - but it’s not just Philly. I’m sure Pittsburgh and other old union towns have the same issues.
