NOTE: Isn't it ironic for Hillary to use the term, "robbing Peter to pay Paul." If anyone can find this on audio, I'd like to have it. Some easy editing will have her saying "robbing Peter Paul."

July 17, 2007

Democratic presidential candidate and former white house first lady, Hillary Clinton, was in Richmond Tuesday afternoon.

She was there to address over three-thousand local government leaders from around the country.

Senator Clinton was the keynote speaker at the National Association of Counties Convention.

The theme for the week was “Restoring the Partnership” and Clinton said that if she becomes the next president she would strengthen the relationship between local and federal governments.

Clinton said, “I want you to know that when I’m president, the needs of our counties will be front and center as they were during my husband’s administration.”

She said she that she feels that local governments have been invisible for the past six years and she believes that counties deserve to have a partner both in the congress and in the White House.

“It puts you in an impossible position having to choose between funding child support enforcement or emergency preparedness; looking to support job training for affordable housing. You end up robbing Peter to pay Paul,” said Clinton.

As her speech went on to hit on other broader issues like homeland and the war in Iraq, local leaders tell us when it came to the homegrown issues like affordable health care and the rights of rural farmers, Clinton was right on the money.

”She obviously did her homework and she knew what local government officials were feeling...its getting more and more difficult to get action at the federal level,” said Albemarle County Supervisor, Sally Thomas.

Louisa County Supervisor, Fitzgerald Barnes said, “Access to health care is something all citizens, especially in Louisa County, and in the state as a whole is concerned about. I think she hit the nail on the head that people want affordable health care.”

I think she said what she thought you wanted to hear, so she said it. People can be so gullible.

Clinton: “I want you to know that when I’m president, the needs of our counties will be front and center as they were during my husband’s administration.”

Hillary was unable to win the NY Senate seat without using her husband’s name. Now she is running on his so called record and using his name.

It is all about her husband or promoting a hate Bush agenda.
