Maverick MP In Commons Bust-Up Updated: 21:16, Monday July 23, 2007
George Galloway has been kicked out of the Commons chamber and suspended for 18 days after a series of fiery exchanges.
Galloway attacks watchdogThe Respect MP was "named" and ordered out after repeatedly clashing with Speaker Michael Martin.
Mr Galloway angrily denounced the Commons watchdog over the motion to suspend him from the House for 18 days about his financial links to Saddam Hussein's regime.
He accused the Standards and Privileges Committee of hypocrisy and of acting "unjustly" as he was repeatedly admonished by Mr Martin for attacking the "good character" of its members.
Mr Galloway was accused of damaging Parliament's reputation over links to an Iraq children's charity.

Mr Galloway, the MP for Bethnal Green and Bow, replied: "Being lectured by the current House of Commons on the question of the funding of political campaigns is like being accused of having bad taste by Donald Trump, like being accused of slouching by the Hunchback of Notre Dame.
"This House stands in utter ill repute on the question of the funding of political campaigns."
And he went on: "None of the parties here, and all three of them are culpable, ever asked the millionaires and billionaires who gave them and lent them money where they got the money from."
His suspension by MPs, agreed without a vote, takes effect from October 8 when Parliament returns.
He will be excluded from the Commons and stripped of his salary for the period.
While all of his acquaintance sneered and slanged,
I wept, for I had longed to see him hanged. Belloc.
Reminds me of Old Fat Bastard at the end of Austin Powers, or Lord Haw Haw's final drunken tirade after Hitler had offed himself.
Should read “I doubt it!” I used the spell-checker, but if ya leave out a word,,,,,
Ooooh, 18 days suspended salary. I’m sure that puts a dent in the hundreds of thousands of dollars his wife received from Saddam.
Its a pity you can’t give him the Lord Haw Haw treatment anymore. Or better yet a nice drawing and quartering. Nothing is too good for that slug.
ex wife I belive.
Maybe Galloway can use some of Saddam’s money to endow a chair at Ward Churchill’s new Oppression Studies Institute...
