do you have such a code on your ATM card? If there were, then everybody with an ATM card would have to know theirs, therefore we would all know of it’s existence.

Politicians talk about "more police", but we don't need more police. We need more prison space to store people with "long criminal histories" so that they don't have the opportunities to commit crimes

Maybe Mrs Petit gave the “wrong” access code to the thieves, then gave the correct one. Maybe she got her face on the ATM camera and mimed very well.

The people in that family suffered hours of torment and sheer terror before they were horribly murdered.
These vermin, on the other hand, will receive free legal representation, free medical and dental care, three meals a day, a quiet place to live rent free, unlimited use of the law library, visiting privileges, free mail service, and lots of sympathy from public officials on account of their race/economic status/unhappy childhoods...etc...etc...

what is wrong with America there is little outrage anymore over thug and criminal and viscious activity....and then, more outrage over the perp’s treatment!
When a person has three or more violent felony convictions, and has now just been convicted of yet another felony, I would be in favor of having the jury go into a penalty phase of deliberation, be given the guy's entire criminal record, and render a verdict as to whether to execute him. Somebody who has committed four armed robberies should face the death penalty

the ATM’s that I am familiar with carry a daily limit upon how much you can withdraw in a day. the amount depends upon bank policy. I don’t know how this lady managed to communicate danger to the bank staff, but she done good to do it.
I assume they were inside the bank and not at the ATM. How she let employees know there was a problem i do not know. Sadly it did not save her life of the life of her daughters. But thankfully it was in time to catch the scum so they won’t be doing this again. Unless some criminal coddling judge lets them out soon, or they claim they should be released because they don’t speak English or some other nonsense.
The governor and legislature really should try to enact some kind of automatic penalties for home invasion crimes now. Though I suspect the 2/3 Demo legislature will have little interest in that. And the same people who whine and scream about rising crime are the same ones who keep reelecting the liberal office holders.

I don't know about Mrs. Petit, but, if I had been enduring the circumstances she and her family had endured before she had to go to the bank with that thug,the people at the bank would be able to notice that I was not my usual self - not to mention that I was withdrawing an unusually large sum of money along with a person who was unfamiliar to them.

He was badly beaten on the head, tied up in the basement, and escaped by hopping up the stairs as the flames spread. The younger girl was tied up upstairs to a bed, the older one was found at the top of the stairs to the second floor, and the mother was found on the first floor. They haven’t determined yet whether any of the 3 who died were dead before the fire started or died in the fire.
There’s nothing remotely suspicious about it. One of the perps had a history of doing burglaries with night vision goggles in occupied homes. If the perps arrived around 3AM (as per one article), I shudder to think what was happening to the mother and daughters in the several hours before the bank opened and the mother was taken there to withdraw money. Both perps have been charged with first degree aggravated sexual assault in connection with this (among a laundry list of other charges).
I just read the latest article and it said the moron stayed outside in the car! So no wonder she had time to alert a teller. I wonder if maybe they should have called police to come straight to the bank and just have her wait inside. But who knows, the scumbag must have threatened her in some way. She had probably been raped too, and I can’t imagine the horror she and the husband underwent at knowing the daughters were assaulted. One of them only 11 for God’s sake. Though I have to ask where is God at a time like this. Pardon me for being angry with Him.
The Courant article also indicated the mother died in the fire and apparently was not killed with a weapon. They must have used some heavy duty stuff to start a fire that would spread so rapidly and kill 3 people almost immediately, because it sounds like police were on the scene in minutes. If only they could have killed the slimes on the spot. Now they have to live off our tax dollars for decades.
The older POS has a record as long as your arm. He was obviously spawned from hell and should have been locked up for life. How lived in Winsted which is nowhere near Cheshire. I wonder how he linked up with the other scumbag. Gee, how awful it would be if they were to meet with some accident in prison. The attorney for one says he is on suicide watch. Let him kill himself. But then advocates for the incarcerated would be screaming that he was denied his rights.

Thanks for the update. Glad to see that the doc is one of the good guys. He has a long a difficult road..recovering physically AND psychologically from the loss of his family..

You are right she could have just told the teller to call police, since the Darwin award winner was in the vehicle!
Bless her heart, you know she was worried sick about her girls and frantic to get back home to them...probably been warned they would die if she didn’t follow instructions.
This story made me sick to my stomach and on the verge of tears when I first heard about it, and then I saw that happy family picture with the two beautiful girls...one only 11 yrs. old. It is just so horrible and senseless.
