A Mexican national who was part of a police chase and deadly rollover accident this month that killed three immigrants among the 20 passengers in a cramped Ford Excursion pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court to smuggling charges.
In the plea, accepted by U.S. Magistrate Judge Pamela A. Mathy, Javier Ramirez-Garcia acknowledged that he and another guide led 17 other immigrants through the brush and over the Mexican border at the cost of $2,500 per head.
Ramirez later was a passenger with the immigrants in the Excursion, allegedly driven by Wilberto Calderon-Yero, which led police on a 100-mile chase. It began after a traffic stop by a state trooper in Frio County and ended in a rollover in San Antonio on Interstate 10 East near Loop 1604 early July 9.
Calderon, a Cuban national who still is convalescing from his injuries in the crash, faces state murder charges and federal smuggling charges in connection with the chase.
Ramirez faces up to 10 years in prison.
Send Castro the bills!
It does seem if the U.S. Gov’t really wanted this to stop they could use some of their Intelligence Community and catch these coyotes who should be EASY to infiltrate. Maybe post a reward to the one who blows their cover?
Ping!
If you want on, or off this S. Texas/Mexico ping list, please FReepMail me.
Send them back to Mexico and see what Mexico does with them after killing 3 countrymen and charging $2,500 a person to smuggle into America.
Three times the article refers to “immigrants”. Not once does it mention “illegal aliens”.
No un problema, moonman!
Most were “special illegals” from Guatemala.

In 1995 I was traveling north on 77 when a van whipped over to the side of the road and people poured out of it running into the brush. The van took the next crossover and headed back south. I made note of the van and the location. When I reported this at the Border Patrol checkpoint a couple of miles up the road, they weren’t interested in info about the van. Only wanted the location of the drop off. It has always bothered me that going after the coyotes was obviously not part of their game plan.
Ping, indeed. As always, rock on!
