Shutting Down Free Speech: The Gay Agenda Triumphant
Breakpoint with Chuck Colson ^ | 7/25/2007 | Chuck Colson

Posted on 07/25/2007 8:40:04 PM PDT by Mr. Silverback

It doesn’t pay to take your constitutional right to free speech seriously anymore—at least, not if you live in Oakland, California. There, a handful of African-American Christian women recently found out that their free speech rights had effectively been outlawed.

The women, who are Oakland government employees, had formed an organization called the Good News Employee Association. As their flyer put it, their group was “a forum for people of Faith to express their views on the contemporary issues of the day. With Respect for the Natural Family, Marriage, and Family Values.”

As columnist George Will relates, the women posted their flyer after other employee groups, including those advocating gay rights, had advertised their activities on the city’s email system and bulletin board. When Good News asked for equal opportunity, they were told to forget it. City officials destroyed their flyer. They accused the women of Good News of being “determined to promote harassment based on sexual orientation. If the women posted any more flyers, or sent their message via email, the city warned, they would be disciplined and perhaps terminated.

In effect, as Will notes, Oakland “has proscribed any speech that even one person might say questioned the gay rights agenda and therefore created what that person felt was a “hostile environment.” While homosexual rights groups used the city’s email system to advertise “Happy Coming Out Day,” the terms “natural family” and “marriage” and “family values” are considered intolerably inflammatory, he adds.

This is why so-called “hate crimes” laws, like the one being considered by the U.S. Congress, are so dangerous. They can be used as a weapon to censor peaceful political speech that someone doesn’t like. The goal of homosexual groups is not to stop violence, or truly hateful speech; it’s to silence anyone who says that homosexual behavior is a biological disorder or a moral wrong. Mere disagreement is redefined as hate.

The Good News group has gone to court over Oakland’s attack on their First Amendment rights, and the super-liberal Ninth Circuit Court, not surprisingly, has ruled against them. The group now hopes the Supreme Court will intervene.

You and I need to be aware of attempts to encroach on our right to speak out against moral evils. We must also understand that this is ultimately a spiritual battle.

The Bible and natural law teachings tell us that God’s law is written upon our hearts and are known to all. As Christian philosopher J. Budziszewski writes in his book The Revenge of Conscience, those who rationalize their sins find it to be so much work that they require other people to support them in it. Society itself must be transformed so that it no longer stands in awful judgment.

This is why gay activist groups want to change the law to suppress any speech that identifies homosexual behavior as either a biological disorder or a moral wrong.

You and I must pray for those who are caught up in homosexuality; their lives are tragic. But we must also remember that, as the Apostle Paul puts it, we must witness to the truth, no matter what human lawmakers say or do, because we owe our ultimate allegiance to the eternal lawgiver: God.

But don't forget, we're the oppressive bigots. The media says so, so it must be true...

So, being a homosexual now trumps being a black woman on the scale of political correctness. Interesting.

Blacks take note: the Democrat party no longer represents you. They may buy your votes with taxpayer dollars, but when it comes to the crunch they will look down their noses at you.

Good thinking, but I think it only applies to Balcks who are serious about their Christianity.

A reminder why Christians cannot stand by and be silent witnesses. We become roadkill, flattened by liberal madness.

Please, take the black vote for granted Democrats. I think we see who’s the true racist party despite the rhetoric.

Good point. It is no longer enough for the Dims to be a black lesbian with five children.

The Country is too dependent on the judiciary in the sense it defers common sense and reason to the realm of judicial autocracy. The will of people is silent and needs to regain its voice - too often it appears apathetic. The points of the article make this ever so clear.

Since alternative live styles are permitted to be 'advertised', maybe they can send this out on the bulletin board.

HARRY HAY
and the
SPIRIT OF STONEWALL
New York, 1994

Harry made the following statement to a press conference on June 24, 1994, in the former Stonewall Inn on Sheridan Square in New York, site of the riots that launched the modern gay movement in June 1969. The press conference was called to announce the Spirit of Stonewall (SOS) contingent in the Stonewall 25 march two days later. It was moderated by SOS co-organizer and indefatigable activist Bill Dobbs. Other participants were Christine Martin, sex educator and documentary filmmaker; Glenda Orgasm (aka Glenn Belverio), drag queen activist and filmmaker; Scott OHara, editor and publisher of Steam magazine; Val Langmuir of Feminists Against Censorship (London); Julia Smedley, member of Stonewall Now; and Charley Shively of Fag Rag and professor of American Studies at the University of Massachusetts.

This statement was transcribed from a videotape of the press conference. A much shorter versionwhich omits any mention of NAMBLA or SOS, as well as the entire last half of the statement and the first paragraphappeared in Radically Gay: Gay Liberation in the Words of Its Founder Harry Hay, ed. Will Roscoe (Boston: Beacon Press, 1996), p. 303. These omissions seem odd in view of the fact that Harry read from a written text. The truncated version also used capital letters for words such as Brothers and Sisters and Queers, a convention that is not followed here since this complete version is not based on a written text.

Sir Julian Huxley, the great English biologist, said, at the beginning of this century, no negative traitand, as you know, a negative trait is one that does not reproduce itselfno negative trait ever appears, and reappears, millennia after millennia after millennia, unless it in some way serves the survival of that species. We gays and lesbians may embody, or have discovered, some things that you folks desperately need to know about.

Im here today as a survivor, as well as the founder of the first ongoing gay organization in the United States, the Mattachine Society, first formed in 1950 in Los Angeles, and now, naturally, a member of SOS, the Spirit of Stonewall, because things we discovered about ourselves and principles we developed in 1950 to 53 are now being trashed by queers who dont know their own history, all over the place.

We decided from the beginning that, first, because we were still discovering our parameters, we wouldnt censure each other. If people like NAMBLA self-identify themselves to me as gays and lesbians, I accept them as brothers and sisters with love.

Second, when we decided to rejoin the social or political mainstream again, we would integrate as the group we saw ourselves to be, complete with our own set of values, or we would not integrate at all.

And third, we would no longer permit any heterosnationally or internationally, individually or collectivelyto tell us who we are, what persons our groups should or should not consist of. We assert our right to self-determination, we assert our right to collective self-definition. We queers will decide for ourselves who our members should be.

Members of SOS, notably NAMBLA, have been accused of child molestation. Insofar as child molestation is concerned, the most common form is the sexual coercion by which gay and lesbian children are bedeviled into hetero identities and behaviors. And this is practiced daily by the whole national and international hetero communityparents, family, teachers, preachers, doctors, lawyers, and Indian chiefs, not to overlook U.S. senators and pooh-bah media.

This outrageous coercion of gay kids into hetero identities and behaviors against their wills is not only sexually abusive, it is spiritually devastating rape, because the child unbeknowingly is being led into developing self-loathing at the same time. For this gigantic criminal trespass against not only todays children but against all of us alsoall of ussince childhood, from the queers my age of 82 down through all the generations of queers assembled here in New York, to the gay kids still being bedeviled by sexual coercion against their wills, we the international gay and lesbian people here this week should unite to sue the whole guilty heterosexual community lock, stock, and barrel to within an inch of their lives, and for every nickel theyve got, as a beginning of compensation. And while were at it, we should request our first-class citizenship as well. This could be the class-action suit of the century.

That's why I call such radical gays the "Gay-stapo." They enforce their principles with the force of government in the same way their nickname-sake did.

> You and I need to be aware of attempts to encroach on our right to speak out against moral evils. We must also understand that this is ultimately a spiritual battle.

I just wish everyone would just shut up and mind their own knitting. I have no desire to speak out against gays, and I will resist any attempt for gays to speak out against straight folk like me.

As a Christian, I know that deliberately homosexuals are unrepentent sinners and therefore dam’ned unless they can score some of God’s good grace. For me, that is sufficient. God is the Judge, leave judgment to Him. This does not excuse me from using good manners and cordiality and proper Christian behavior towards gays and all other sinners. Indeed, Christ came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

So as a follower of Christ, it is not up to me to do anything other than facilitate Christ’s agenda. Facilitate, not force. To be welcoming, but not obnoxious ever.

I have more than enough faults of my own to address and correct, to worry about what the “gay agenda” is up to. I’ll worry about that when they are in my family’s bedrooms and demanding conjugal rights at gunpoint.

God is in control.
