The unspoken assumptions is that the ultimate crime to to “offend”. Everyone on the tape, even the bar owner, bought into that assumption.
Wow! It was very telling how the woman whining about the sign assummed it was a racial thing. I am sure that anytime someone says anything negative about welfare recipiants she comes to the same conclusion. It’s the victim mentality.
The bar owner should be a FReeper.
Agreed. Support the troops, No life long welfare, Speak English...
My kind of guy. More of the people in the country need to speak up on these issues. Amen.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
I see nothing offensive. Like the bar owner said, they are general statements.
People like that woman are victims and they are the racists and want their 15 minutes of fame provided by such enablers as CNN.
Welfare is limited to one race? White folks aren’t eligible? What about Asians, American Indians, Pacific Islanders ...
When I was growing up - in the 50’s and 60’s - the worst thing someone could do is murder, rape or steal. Gradually, - in the 70’s and 80’s - that morphed into ‘racism’. Now, the big offense is ‘hurting someone’s feelings’. Next, it will be thinking something the libs do not want you to think. This site will eventually be driven into extinction because someone from moveon.org or the ACLU is offended by these posts. Be afraid, be very afraid.
This is typical of the doublespeak that goes on with welfare. In one breath any negative talk about welfare brings out the likes of this woman and Jesse HiJackson to scream racism, but then the next breath hears them say that more whites are on welfare than any other group.
Mega BTTT
Yep, but they will help remedy that by bringing back the "Fairness Doctrine".
Kudos to the bar owner - he’s right on the money. Sounds like the “welfare” sign hit a bit close to home for somebody.
methinks them complainers doth protest too much
This is just great! This guy is being persecuted because he dares to chastise those whose behavior is fundamentally anti-social! I love it!
African Americans who complain and call it racist are unwittingly being racist and showing their ignorance.
The large majority of folks on welfare are white.
No matter who, it should be a hand up not a hand out.
This is not news, but a contrivance CNN is passing off as news hoping to get it a bigger story. We will probably be seeing a protest out in front of this man’s establishment in short order and eventually spineless city officials will “have no choice” but to demand the removal of the sign for the owner’s own safety—The updated story will conclude with a voice over along the lines of,
“A lesson to us all about the power of insensitive speech. America still has a long way to go in its battle to overcome its own racist roots.” (camera zooms in on sign one last time, then cuts to young black child, or maybe aged black man with VFW overseas cap and chest full of war ribbons, face tear-stained proudly holding an American flag. Camera fades as the voice over says, “CNN news.”)

I was deeply offended.
