I have found an interesting table of statistics [I know, I know] for 2002. The table is called the "Leading Causes of Death in the United States". I was unable to locate anything more upto date that 2002. The table seems to naturally fall into a "top ten" causes of death simply due to the numbers and percentages involved I guess. Can you guess the number one cause of death in the USA in 2002?

No deaths to ETS (second hand smoke)

If I’m not mistaken, the leading cause of deaths in the U.S. is ABORTIONS: 3,300 EACH DAY which works out to 1,500,000 per year. I failed to see that in the list.

old age?
Nobody dies of old age anymore, there has to be a reason for everything. You could be 95 years old and just die and somebody would have to put something down on your death certificate other than "old age".

What ever it is you can bet it’s Bush’s fault!

I was going to say global warming, but it’s been done to death.

But, but, but AIDS didn't even make the list. This has to be wrong.
Or did the Pandemic not ever show up? We're all supposed to be dead my now. I read it in the LA Times in the late 80's so you know it has to be true.
To: laweeks
I bet it’s not listed. Scrolling down to see if the list is here.

Would like to think it was suicidal death by democrats who couldnt live with Bushs win (would make it Bushs fault, so to speak). But, alas, no such luck. ;-)

Government statistics will not show this, but
i believe that the Food and Drug Administration
is the most lethal agency in the United States.
The self-righteous and omniscient FDA forbids free men and women to cope with their medical maladies as they may judge best, thereby depriving them of
avenues of aid that have been well-proven elsewhere.
Their obligatory approval procedures also add many billions to the costs of healthcare in this country.
To: monkeycard
Sorry, Libs, AIDS didn’t make the list and firarm deaths were last.

But, but, but AIDS didn't even make the list. Rest assured, the CDC and the GLTG folks are scrambling to get everything but firearms and auto accidents reclassified as AIDS-related.
And they're working angles on those two....

What is also interesting about the Firearms statistics is the note at the bottom of the table:
NOTE: Firearms Statistics Include Gang Warfare, Self Defense Shootings and Criminals Killed by Police
Firearms deaths had to be lumped together simply to get into the top ten.

I bet its not listed. Scrolling down to see if the list is here. The 1.29 million abortions in 2002 would put it comfortably at the top of the list.

Did anybody see abortions listed? Doesn’t a living, breathing baby die each time there’s an abortion? What am I missing?

Did anybody see abortions listed? Abortions are not considered deaths, in some wacko-liberal way of thinking.

More than 96% of Americans die within six months of their birthday.
Unbelievable, but true.

Leading cause of death is birth. Without birth, there is no death.

Notice the LAST cause of Accidental death?
Accidental Discharge of Firearms: 776
Falls: 13,322
Falls kill 17 times more people than firearm accidents. Where is the Brady Bunch? They should save us all from falling. There should be a law that mandates wheelchair use for everyone over 65 years old. That could save over 8000 lives a year. Thats 60% of all deaths by fall of those over 65 years old.

in fact, the cause of death for everyone who ever died is lack of oxygen to the brain.

I agree with you. And even though it is never on time with what it is supposed to do and has a less than stellar record at doing it, the agency now wants the right to regulate tobacco. Which isn’t even a drug as the term is defined under the law (which differs from the dictionary definition, of course.)
