Virginia's bid for help with illegals nixed
The Washington Times ^ | July 30, 2007 | Natasha Altamirano

Federal immigration officials say they lack the resources to fulfill a proposed mandate by Virginia lawmakers to train staff at every state jail to start deportation procedures for illegal aliens.

"I cannot make that commitment to Virginia," said William F. Reid, special agent in charge of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Washington field office.

Mr. Reid told members of the State Crime Commission's illegal-immigration task force at a meeting Tuesday in Richmond that the state's request would be evaluated against nationwide requests.

Twenty-two law-enforcement agencies nationwide have entered formal agreements with ICE to complete the training, authorized under Section 287(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, agency spokesman Richard Rocha said.

More than 65 other agencies have requested 287(g) training, he said.

ICE requested $26.4 million for 287(g) training from Congress for its fiscal 2008 budget, which would fund the training of 250 state and local law-enforcement officers, 350 jail beds and enforcement-related technology.

On Thursday, the Senate passed its version of the homeland security spending bill for 2008, which includes an additional $5.4 million for the 287(g) program. The bill also allows money left over from $3 billion in emergency border- and interior-enforcement funding to go to the training program.

The federal government is without excuse. The biggest pork-filled budget in the history of the U.S., and it can't find money to aid a state that is actually willing to enforce federal laws! Read more on Critical Mass

If they can’t help one state, they certainly can’t defend the entire nation. But that’s Jorge’s agenda.

This is the Bush Administration’s payback to the citizenry who opposed his amnesty plan.

The word is out to the heads of all these agencies dealing with border control - screw the public and teach them a lesson not to mess with our schemes.

Screw the feds. We'll just get all of those school buses that aren't being used right now, load em all up and unload them at the border. Freakin bureaucrats!

That is precisely what is happening.

It is almost Clintonesque in it's sheer retaliatory beauty.

Were there true intent to secure our borders now that the public has risen to rightfully challenge the Government sanctioned illegal invaders, then one would think this 287(g) program would be adequately funded.

ICE is not capable, Not not capable to deport, not capable to train and so forth. What can they do. I think that ICE is simple not capable at all. Let’s fire them all and hire some patriots that are capable of defending the Constitution.

GO after the employers of illegals on the state and county levels, also yank state and county services, and they will begin to self deport or they will move to other areas. This is the only help what with an obstructionist federal government. Jorge is behind most of this no doubt. We can outsmart him and go right around him anyway.

This is ridiculous. Anyone with half a brain can figure out the procedures.

Maybe that's why it is so hard for the government to do it.

Well, you do have a point.

Actually, Sen. Sessions has looked into these training sessions in Alabama and it is his opinion that they take much longer than is necessary and cost much, much more. Again, no surprise.

So, are we to assume, that deportation procedures and the law and the forms are not in PDF format and law enforcement agencies have too many cops that cannot read? Doesn’t seem to be an issue with the PIN system, now does it?

If there is any specific evidence coming out of the current Executive Branch wherein specifically there are acts which instruct federal employees or agencies to either officially or unofficially impede or ignore the execution of the congressionally enacted Federal laws of the land (in this case, Immigration Law), then this could be dangerously entering Impeachment Territory for simple "obstruction of justice", high crimes and misdemeanors. IMHO.

They should contact Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and arrange for their officers to visit Arizona for on site training. I bet Sheriff Arpaio would love the idea.

Illegal Immigration Stats to Date:

Under the State law – Arrests by Sheriff’s deputies of persons transporting or being transported illegally into Arizona: 602

Under the Federal law – Arrests by Sheriff’s deputies who, in the course of their duties, determine the arrestee is in Arizona illegally: 187

As a taxpayer I hope the Federal Government decides to implement what we the people want.....Build the wall, create A special forces type border patrol, no matter what it costs, erect concentration camps, have a special airline consistimg of hundreds of planes, then start rounding these invaders up, hold them in the camps, and fly them back to their countries of origin!! Make it a 24-7 operation..Get rid of ‘em...
If our government dosn’t act on the peoples wishes then guys like me aint votin’ Republican any more.....If the Republican Party sits on their arsses on this Immigration flap, they will fail as a political party and the Democrats will lead us to chaos!
