Silly conspiracy may just be most dangerous kind

Successful conspiracy against power can only happen one of two ways:

Either the conspiracists are so closed-lipped that no one ever finds out about the conspiracy until it is too late, or else the conspiracy is so absurd and ill-considered that no one takes it seriously in the first place.

There appear to be relatively few successful conspiracies of the first sort, probably because it violates human nature too much. The larger the conspiracy, the more likely that someone will tell the wrong person too much and lead the authorities to the truth before the conspiracy can reach fruition...

...On the other hand, sometimes conspiracies are well understood in their intent and even practical application before they are accomplished, and yet the powers-that-be don’t act in a manner fitting for self-preservation. These are the conspiracies that are most dangerous, the ones that are ignored or overlooked the way the brown recluse spider can hide in plain sight and be mistaken for a common house spider.

Such conspiracies are not always successful, of course, but they have a much better chance of success than those that are taken seriously by the authorities. A few simple examples are the rise to power of Adolf Hitler and the Bolshevik Revolution.

I’m not sure if we are in the midst of such a conspiracy today or not, but it seems that there are only two explanations for the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America — one is stupidity and the other is conspiracy. That veil of stupidity, of course, is the perfect cover to make an actual conspiracy a success, so in a well-planned conspiracy it could actually be part of the plot.

If you don’t know what the Security and Prosperity Partnership is, welcome to the crowd.

Third possibility, people see what they want or expect to see.. It's like when you buy a new car, you see the same model everywhere.. are there suddenly more models of the same car? No, but your mind picks out those models..

People expect to see conspiracy, they will see all the signs pointing to that conspiracy.. they ignore all the signs pointing away from the conspiracy. This conspiracy, in one form or another, has been around long before our country existed, only the names have changed...

My favorite conspiracy is the one that states the government is really behind or promotes all the conspiracy theories. It is because 25% of the population is retarded and needs to believe that someone is ‘in control’ and want people to believe that the government is all-powerful and could achieve absolutely anything, include run a conspiracy.

Good book, though I liked The Name of the Rose better. One of the best living writers.

Yeah, it’s just nothing...

http://www.house.gov/apps/list/speech/ca52_hunter/Nafta_hgwy_amendment.shtml

-—HUNTER NAFTA SUPER HIGHWAY AMENDMENT PASSES HOUSE

Washington, D.C. – Late last evening, Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA) successfully offered an amendment to H.R. 3074, the FY2008 Transportation Appropriations Act, prohibiting the use of federal funds for participation in working groups under the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP), including the creation of the NAFTA Super Highway. The Hunter amendment gained strong bipartisan support, passing the House by a vote of 362 – 63.

“The proposed NAFTA Super Highway presents significant challenges to our nation’s security, the safety of vehicle motorists, and will likely drive down wages for American workers,” said Congressman Hunter. “Much like NAFTA, the super highway is designed to serve the interests of our trading partners and will lead to neither security nor prosperity.

“This 12 lane highway, which is already under construction in Texas, will fast-track thousands of cargo containers across the U.S. without adequate security. These containers will move from Mexico, a country with a record of corruption and involvement in the drug trade, across a border that is already porous and insufficiently protected.

“Unfortunately, very little is known about the NAFTA Super Highway. This amendment will provide Congress the opportunity to exercise oversight of the highway, which remains a subject of question and uncertainty, and ensure that our safety and security will not be comprised in order to promote the business interests of our neighbors.”

NOTE: SPP working groups are advancing a plan to build the NAFTA Super Highway – an international corridor extending between the U.S., Mexico and Canada.-—

Ejonesie22,
See what I was referring to.. people see conspiracy everywhere. They take a transportation and trade bill and somehow link it to the loss of sovereignty.

I am surprised they aren’t calling for the disbanding of NORAD- after all, that is a “North American Security Partnership”...

Did you ever think they just don't want a bunch of conspiracy nutcases within 15 miles of the Presidents?

It’s like a conspiracy, but not really a conspiracy. It is an informal conspiracy rooted in individual psychology where the total behavior forms an institution or system with a life of its own.

Will it be an invisible secret Super Highway, or will normal people also be able to see it?
