RIDGECREST, Calif. -- A 75-year-old man walked into a medical building Monday and started shooting but was killed by a highway patrolman, authorities in this Mojave Desert community said. No other injuries were reported.
The man fired one shot on the grounds of Ridgecrest Regional Hospital and entered a medical office building, where he fired several other shots, Police Chief Mike Avery said.
Officers told the man to drop his shotgun, but he did not, authorities said.
The man was shot and killed by California Highway Patrol Officer Brad Degeus, a six-year member of the force, said Paul Salazar of the patrol.
The patrol said Degeus had been backing up another law enforcement agency.
Suicide by cop.
YUP.
Yup...
Looks like the old timer had had enough.....wanted out.
Suicide by cop, definitely.
I’m sure the MSM will learn how to make this lunatic’s idiocy into an eloquent and desperate cry for single-payer healthcare.
Single-payer healthcare, assisted suicide, police brutality and gun control all rolled into one. An MSM cornucopia.
Danged good thing for everyone that LEO was on-scene, already, or the body count would more’n likely include a few innocents.
Yep.
Maybe accidently but I don't think it was the shooters intent to harm aanyone but himself. Several shots from a shot gun inside a hospital, wouldn't have been difficult to hit someone if he were really trying.
He wanted the cops to come and kill him. Makes me wonder if he had moral qualms about killing himself, which in effect is what he did anyway, he just used a cop as his weapon to do it with.
Yep.
OPINION: Serious suiciders can and often are homiciders if interfered with.
(Note: This is a separate issue than suicide bombers whom always have a homicidal intent.)
Oh whatever, we all know hospitals are gun free zones... silly people... {/sarcasm
