I must admit, when I first heard the news about Chief Justice Roberts’ injury yesterday, my first thought was “where was Chuck Schumer?”
If Ginsburg, Stevens, Breyer, Souter retire (one way or another) before President Bush leaves office, I say just leave the slot open. Make sure that the Left doesn’t go “Pelican Brief” on Roberts, Thomas, Scalia, Alito, and Kennedy, and when the caterwauling starts on the Left about the need to fill the slots, someone better hit back hard with, “well, the senator from New York said ‘no more judges’, so the White House is complying.”
And then, when a judge is nominated, at the confirmation hearing, to counter the stupid “Let us Vote” sign that the Left had at the all night senate session, we have a picture of a baby in the womb, with these words next to the child: “Let us live”. And then, in the course of the testimony, the Republicans (minus Specter of course) should lay out every case of Democrat duplicity and obstruction in the judicial process. I know they won’t, but I can wish, can’t I?
