Bancroft family accepts News deal: DJ executive
CHICAGO (Reuters) - Dow Jones & Co. Inc.'s controlling Bancroft family "has accepted" News Corp.'s $5 billion offer to buy the publisher of the Wall Street Journal, an executive of a Dow Jones unit said on Tuesday.
"The Bancroft family has accepted," John Prestbo, editor and executive director of Dow Jones Indexes, told reporters on Tuesday in Chicago. Dow Jones "will be part of News Corp," he said.
Prestbo told Reuters the information came from an internal company memo.
If the Editorial Page positions change, I’ll cancel. If they leave it alone, I’ll keep my 30 year subscription going another 30 years.
Capishe, Rupert?
Looks like my lunchtime reading, which once covered several newspapers, is headed to zero.
Cavuto wasn’t real impressive when he was on CNBCHYPE, where he fit right in with the rest of them. I think the telling factor (no pun) will be if and how he handles interviews with the CEO’s and CFO’s and various gummint officials - treas, SEC, bankers, anal-ists, etc.....milquetoast softballs or demanding full-spectrum fastball information.
(sorry for ‘fastball’, but couldn’t bring myself to type ha-baw)
Change the Wall Street Journal and they just wasted their money.
