I want to add this to the lore section. Let me know if I have it right and please fill in the blank on when the FReeps began. Thanks!

Walter Reed FReeps - The DC Chapter of FreeRepublic has held a constant vigil near the Medical Center's entrance to welcome and support our wounded servicemen and women and to counter the "greeting" given by Code Pink and various anti-war leftists groups. The FReeps commenced in [fill in blank] and continue. At one point, Code Pink forgot to renew the protest permit, allowing FReepers to capture the opposing corner.

What a great idea; but it does need some tweaking, especially because CodePink calls their demonstration a "vigil", which is a lefty word for a secular religious ceremony! LOL!

Here is an edit that I recommend -- you others on the ping list might have other suggestions:

Walter Reed FReeps - The DC Chapter of FreeRepublic has held a weekly troop-support rally at the entrance to Walter Reed Army Medical Center since March, 2005, to greet our wounded troops and their families. This rally began as a counterprotest to an anti-war "vigil" by Code Pink and other leftist groups that gathered every Friday evening at the entrance to WR. After facing off across the street for the first 40 weeks, FReepers captured the permits to all four corners of the entrance in 2006, pushing the protesters to an obscure site a block away ever since. Our larger and more visible rally now focuses solely on celebrating the troops.
