Vegans shun meaty sex
Daily News ^ | July 31, 2007

WELLINGTON: A group of New Zealand vegans - people who do not eat any animal products - are shunning sex with meat eaters, claiming their bodies are made up of animal carcasses.

"When you are vegan or vegetarian, you are very aware that when people eat a meaty diet, they are kind of a graveyard for animals," said vegan Nichola Kriek. Another said: "I would not want to be intimate with someone whose body is literally made up from the bodies of others who have died for their sustenance."

Annie Potts, co-director of the New Zealand Centre for Human and Animal Studies at Canterbury University, identified the people she called "vegansexuals" in her research study.

Oh, totally! Moreover, some of the biggest druggies/boozers in college were the holier-than-thou vegan hippies that stunk up the dorms with their butt-smell and patchouli.

Meat bad, but LSD was okay? Never figured that one out.

Liberalism is a mental disorder.

“By switching to a vegetarian diet, you can save more than 100 animals a year from this misery.”

I am not too sure about that. How is that figure made? My guess is calculating the total amount of meat someone eats ina lifetime and using that figure.
But, just as when you cut back on your consumption of gas, total gas use is not cut by that amount, any less consumption on an individual level will not lead to an equal decrease in total consumption. This is due to prices. When I cut back on my gas usage, demand for gas will go down, prices in turn decrease because of less demand, lower prices entice people to consume more. The end result is somewhere in the middle.

Also, what do you make of this: http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=grill

I saw something very interesting on DU some time ago.
It was an article that the Dutch? had developed a way to grow cloned pork in the lab.

Well sir, all the vegans chimed in and basically admitted that they LOVE Meat and still crave it.
They almost all said that what they hate about meat is the killing of the cute fuzzy animals.
They almost all agreed they would have no problem whatsoever consuming “Franken Flesh”

True story L0L I couldnt make that kind of thing up!

If people came up and thanked you, it sounds like he wasn't carrying on a one-on-one conversation, but was trying to drag the whole plane into the fray, social considerations be damned

Oh yeah, he was already in "conversation" with he people behind me when I got there to put stuff in the overhead.

Awesome article! BR>
I post links to The naive vegetarian when ever I can, it has such good stuff on it, I like his calculations on how much land we would need if everybody goes veggie and how that would mean the end of "farm animals" all together.

If we aren't going to eat them then why bother keeping them alive?

> I prefer mine rare.

LOL! Reminds me of the Saskatoon restaurant billboard in Alaska:

“There’s plenty of room for all God’s creatures...

...right next to the mashed potatoes.”

Cmon, it's not that hard to find a picture...

Saskatoon billboard

Do you really want me to write a thousand words describing it?

I didn't think so.

A couple years ago I acquired a taste for lamb. My little son was upset to learn he had eaten a baby animal. He could care less if he ate an adult animal. Just not the cute baby ones. I told him the meat from the grocery would be dead whether we ate it or not and I would eat with or without him. He decided he wouldn’t miss out after all.

When my kid was little. He was about 5 and we were in a nice restraunt with no kids plates.

He ordered frogs legs.
He tucked into them with gusto but slowed with each bit and finally burst into tears.

Whats wrong? I said

Wimpering, he replied. “it tastes like frog!”

BTW I love lamb. combine olive oil,Dijon mustard chopped garlic, cracked black peppercorns and chopped rosemary and whisk this into an emulsion and marinate the lamb in it and Broil it or cook over a high heat on the grill.

Delicious!

Sounds like an excellent sauce, although I only have had lamb a few times in my life. But I am going to grill some yard buzzard (chicken) this weekend. I'll give that marinade a try.
