Japan sex slavery apology sought

The U.S. House passed a nonbinding resolution urging Japan to apologize for coercing thousands of women into working as sex slaves for its World War II military.

Officials in Tokyo say their country's leaders have apologized repeatedly, but the resolution's supporters say Japan has never fully assumed responsibility. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe caused anger in March when he said there was no evidence that the women had been coerced.

Lawmakers want an apology similar to the one the U.S. government gave to Japanese Americans forced into internment camps during World War II.

This is none of our business. For crying out loud, we can't get a fence on the Mexican border but they have time for this?!!

As Will Rogers said, "Just be glad you're not getting all the goverment you're paying for." Or something like that.

This is true?

Tell me this isn’t something our congress is doing right before their August recess.

Leave the Japs alone as we need them in the war on terror. They will prove to be a very formidable ally in the years ahead. What skanky, $hit-for-brains political hack thought this one up. Yes, they are guilty and they know it. Who would you rather have on your side, the Japanese or a social democrat Kraut.

"This is none of our business..."

A sound foreign policy could be based on that principle.

What would be the point; who would benefit; who would feel better if such an apology were extended?

As a matter of general pcinciple, what can be the objective meaning of an apology offered by (or coerced from) persons who did not commit or authorize the offense?

While the Congress is at it, have them pay reparation for those Americans they abused. Now, that would be a win-win situation.
