Typical that the author had to prominently declare that he was married to a Hispanic and speaks Spanish. Otherwise, he would immediately be declared a racist, know-nothing nativist - probably a closet Nazi, and that would end the discussion.
I picked up on that as well, and thought how successful these pro-illegals are in getting us on the defensive by making us think that we must precede our comments with a “some of my best friends are . . .” disclaimer. It’s about time we stopped that. I wrote the author in that same vein.
I like Victor Davis Hansen’s reply to the “Racist!” cry - “That slur is SO pre-911.” I can’t wait to use it.
