This seems a bad development, though one might take it as a desperation move when things seem to generally be going well. Perhaps it’s just a case of the bad guys finally showing themselves...
I wonder how their approval ratings are 1) among the general Iraqi population and 2) among the Sunnis only.
It is indeed a bad development. The unity government cannot afford to lose any more partners. If the Maliki goverment collapses while Parliament is on vacation, it would be a very serious problem.
On the other hand, the gov’t seems stuck and a shake-up, even Maliki’s resignation, could be a good thing.
Big Deal.
If they won’t show up, APPOINT SUCCESSORS, and move on.
Democracy in action. Perhaps something better will come out of this.

Any recognizable form of “democratic” rule in Iraq is next to impossible.
Iraq is composed of too many factions who have been at war with one another for CENTURIES.
Iraq is being used as the killing fields by other Islamic nations who wish to PREVENT a free, democratic and America aligned Islamic nation..
Syria, Iran, Pakistan and other nations in the region — are home to and supportive of the militant Islamists who must be destroyed or “neutralized” to remove the agitators in the area...
War and our involvement in that war will go on for as long as America wishes to combat the terror exporting militant Islamists in the world -— or until the cowards control Congress and surrenders...
It’s as simple as that.
