After the 7.2 at Vanautu earlier, the ring of fire is heating up.

Securing the bookshelves now...

San Fran Bay Area.

Had a little 4.2 roller last week (and a couple of smaller ones since then, judging by my inner ear).

There was another earthquake this morning

was a 7.2, was wondering if all this might relate to the bridge.
Cant find the link now.

I remember driving to my sister's house in Lompoc in 1987 and rumblers messing with my head. Kinda scary.
Anyway here's this:

On March 9, 1957, at 14:22 GMT, an earthquake occurred south of the Andreanof Islands, in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. A Pacific-wide tsunami was triggered by the earthquake, which had a surface-wave magnitude of 8.3, an epicenter of 51.5° N, 175.7° W, and a focal depth of 33 km. Even though no lives were lost, the Hawaiian Islands suffered the greatest with damage costs approximately $5 million (1957 dollars).

I haven’t heard anything regarding a tsunami warning yet. Considering this quake is relatively ‘shallow’, I’m surprised there isn’t a warning. I’m about 1/4mi from the beach here in south Long Beach, not much above sea level.

The fact that nobody is saying they felt anything, and the geological survey isn’t saying anything, leads me to believe the bridge in MN. went down for structural stress. (I’m in Power Management, not Civil Engineering, so I don’t know.)

There was no seismic activity within 500 miles of Minneapolis today. There was one 1.0 micro tremor near Memphis, but that was the closest.

Electrical Engineers build bombs.

Civil Engineers build targets.

(Sorry, couldn’t resist!)

LOL, (it’s true). I happen to have a large history with Nevada and Arizona on the deliverance of the first part. I wonder how the heck I ended up in TN. :^)

Worrisome location, Norm. But I think it's too deep and too weak to threaten your coast or mine.

Are you wondering whether or not the USGS has knowledge of Earthquakes?
