Road rager defence rejected (Beat up 87 year old WW2 Vet)

A CLAIM by the girlfriend of a man accused of a brutal road rage attack on an 87-year-old that "half the Australian men would have done the same thing" has been resoundingly rejected in a Daily Telegraph online poll.

Martin Bruce Gamman, 33, was hiding in his southwestern Sydney home yesterday, six days after allegedly punching war veteran Tom Golden several times in the face during a traffic incident.

Showing little of the bravado he is accused of displaying last week, he refused to reveal himself when confronted by The Daily Telegraph. It was up to his partner - the mother of his three-month-old son - to leap to his defence.

"We knew he was elderly but we didn't know he was 87," said the girlfriend, who would not reveal her name.

"It's not like he had it written on his car, 'Australian veteran'."

Yesterday his girlfriend said it was simply a case of self defence and claimed Mr Golden twice almost caused an accident with their car.

"The media has made Marty look like some savage," she said. "It's not like he goes out every day and bashes someone. He reacted on instinct.

"I thought I was going to die at one stage (during the traffic incident).

"Half the Australian men would have done the same thing if their child and partner had been in that situation."

However in an online poll today Daily Telegraph readers have overwhelmingly rejected the woman's claim that half the nation's men would act the same.

Of 3,841 votes by just after midday, a massive 95.7 per cent of respondents had agreed that the girlfriend's statement was "a disgusting thing to say".

Police have charged Gamman with maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm and predatory driving.

Parramatta Local Court heard on Saturday the truck driver had...

The best one I ever heard of was when I was living in NYC.

As my friend told it, he was driving on 3rd Ave. toward the 59th St. Bridge in moderate to heavy traffic. He became involved in an altercation with a pedestrian. The pedestrian reached thru the open car window, intending some type of bodily harm I suppose. My friend quickly rolled up the window, trapping the man’s arms, then resumed heading toward the Bridge at a little faster than walking pace. After a about a block and a half of watching the guy, gasping for breath, screaming, cursing and begging, my friend relented, rolled the window down and kept driving.

I LMAO, as this was about the height of the Vietnam war, and Bill was a flaming Liberal pascivist.

I Know Martin Gamman very well as he was dating my sister for the best part of ten years, this man deserves everything he gets as he is a violent thug who who is predatory towards people he knows he can beat.
I hope he reads this and remind him of the time when my 55 year old father beat the puss out of him for being violent towards my sister.
Hope he becomes Bubba’s little princess when he goes inside.
