"...Floridas optical scan voting machines are still flawed, despite efforts to fix them, and they could allow poll workers to tamper with the election results..."

The evil of HillBama is only a few electrons away ...
So we (Florida) got rid of the “hanging chad” machines.
We bought the touch screens, and they’re “defective” so they’ve been scrapped.
Now the optical scanners they’re mandating we buy won’t work either.
Thank you Algore. There is no such thing as a “perfect election”...never has been. The libs cry foul no matter what machine is used (but only if they lose.)
Americans deserve openly observed, secure elections.
Votes could be counted by elementary school children
in front of video security cameras.
Real physical ballots in public view at all times are
reliable and recountable as well as more practical
and efficient than the unreliable, unrecountable,
taxpayer ripoff electronic subversion systems.
You're kidding aren't you? We use ATM machines everyday and nobody thinks that they're "cheating" them. We use electronic scanners at stores, and even do the scanning ourselves. There are millions of voters in my county. How long would it take "elementary school children" to count votes...and would you trust elementary school children that were educated in our public school system to even know how to calculate millions of votes.
Just laying the foundations for the lawsuits in 2008 if the Democrats lose.
I never had a problem with the old putch card ballot. But I’m not an Al Gore voter in Palm Beach County either. ;-)
ATM systems have all sorts of internal auditing, and they provide you with a paper record of your transaction that you can verify on the spot. If there is a discrepancy, you can immediately go into the bank and have it resolved. If your monthly statement shows transactions that you never made, you can get your bank to fix them. ATM systems also include cameras that can be used to identify criminals or to prove that a genuine customer was using the ATM. Banking systems are not anonymous, as elections are required to be. Also banks are insured for losses (and there are considerable losses at ATMs), while elections are not insured. Election systems are thus significantly more difficult to design and build than ATM systems.

I agree.
I want a paper reciept.
If only we had Jimmy Carter to watch over our elections to make sure they were run properly.
Netmilsmom you deserve even better.
A receipt isn’t good enough.
It needn’t match the ‘counts’.
But that isn't what they wanted when it came time to recount and manufacture more votes in Floriduh.
We should watch our elections ourselves.
The electronics are known to lose, switch,
and fake votes, by the thousands.
Nobody likes HillBama but unless Americans
get their vote back, the machines will put
that horrorshow in office.
You shouldn’t “keep” a receipt. Your computer printed ballot should be the one placed into the box and tallied. Verify your printout against your choices and drop it in.
As soon as your “receipt” would leave the polling center in YOUR pocket, it opens the door for substitution of false “receipts” as grounds for claims of “vote tampering”.
They used to deliberately jam the lever systems. The Democrats in Florida illegally had a polling machine, they toured it when they called for recounts.
Stacking up ballots and punching them for Gore manufactured thousands of votes too. It also created dimpled chads.
First outcome-based education. Now, outcome-based voting procedures.
I wasn’t being serious.
That sounds good to me.
I’m just not happy with push a button and no verification.
No mention of verifying that the person showing up to vote is the person whom they claim to be,
ie, PHOTO ID REQUIREMENT.
You’re right, of course, that the corrupt
Democrats have a long history of tampering
with elections.
The electronics will make it safe, quick,
and easy for them to tamper with elections,
now. Americans reject HillBama, but the
rigged ‘voting’ systems won’t.
The outcomes of electronic ‘voting’
systems are known not to match the
inputs of the voters.
