“that explains this pic of her dad”

- If her mother looks anything like Malin herself and her father looks like that, she probably is more Swedish than Norwegian.

However, that picture of her father is highly reminiscent of The Swedish Chef. Maybe The Swedish Chef actually is Norwegian after all, his problem could be the reverse one..

Nope, it’s fairly safe to say the English Women are pretty much the ugliest women in Europe.

I did an extended euro trip a few years ago and all the women on the continent were just slamming. Insanely good looking.

This really is an old story. In 1879 my grandmother was born in Norway of a Swedish mother and a Norwegian father. She was officially Swedish, not Norwegian.

That’s bizarre... so you could never set foot in a country and be a citizen?

Both countries would have to agree on the policy or it would be moot. Unless I’m missing something, Norway can’t determine who is a Swedish citizen and Sweden can’t determine who is a Norwegian citizen. The story does not make it clear... I bet she was born in Sweden.

She looks SWEET-ish to me! ;)

My Norwegian for-bearers had a joke about Swedes....

“What is a Swede?”

“A Norwegian with the brains knocked out.”

Although I hear that the Swedes say the same about Norwegians. Ahhh, a little inter-Scandanavian rivalry, maybe they can settle it with a mud wrestling match! :)

“Yup, that was me! I’m happy to report I returned from Gotland without anyone offering me lamb eyes :)”

- Probably you got away easy just because you’re not from the Swedish mainland :-)

“The weather was awesome!”

- Glad to hear that. I had the impression the weather had been really bad all over the southern part of Sweden the last month or so. Apparently, I didn’t interpret the weather forecasts properly.

“I love Sweden and would move to Stockholm in a second if I could find a company to set me up”

Keep on trying. Many Swedish companies have severe difficulties finding staff nowadays and I’d say Swedish employers have a positive attitude towards people from the US.

Furthermore, Swedish girls seem to like American guys too, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you find one pretty soon!

Thanks for the brewery link. I’ve tried the Wisby pils. It’s a realy good beer. I’d really like to try the ‘Medieval Beer’ as well, but it says on their web site it’s sold exclusively to Gotland restaurants during the Medieval festival in August. Maybe it’s worth the long drive(+ the ferry trip)..

Best of regards from Gothenburg, Sweden

“Oh my aching ass! “Babe” doesn’t even begin to describe her.”

- Which one?

Sorry if my brain is slow. You get a bit dizzy from time to time due to all the babes here in Sweden...

“maybe they can settle it with a mud wrestling match!”

- Personally, I think our Swedish girls are prettier than the Norwegian ones, but that’s not a neutral opinion.

This burning issue definitely has to be settled.
I wonder if there are any Norwegian ladies out there who’d dare to challenge the Swedish Bikini Team in a mud wrestling match?

One thing more, we need an impartial referee. Would you care to...

Ah... that would explain much.

...leaves open the interesting possibility that “Baby Jane” could be born in “Country X” by a mother who is a citizen of “Country Z” then “X” says you are not a citizen here because your mom was from “Z” and “Z” says you are not a citizen here because you were born in “X” ...I suppose they have international treaties that sort that out.

Norway is also pretty nasty about dual citizenship. It says that she had a Swedish passport first. She might have lost her citizenship by that feature and have to go through the procedure of re-claiming it prior to her 23rd birthday that the Norway law requires.

I’ve never tasted a Norwegian beer. Maybe I’ll look for one at the fancy beer store in town. Or I could call the distributor listed on the brewery website and ask “Where can I get some Aass in Georgia?”

Actually, it’s EXACTLY like that. Swedes and Norwegians aren’t particularly fond of each other.

Well, my grandmother was definitely born in Cristiana (Oslo). Her parents were married but father died before she was born, maybe that had something to do with it. And she did (eventually) set foot in Sweden. He mother later married a Swede and moved back to Sweden. But Grandma was never a Norwegian — and quite proud of that.
