WASHINGTON (AP) - Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said Thursday he would not use nuclear weapons «in any circumstance. «I think it would be a profound mistake for us to use nuclear weapons in any circumstance,» Obama said, with a pause, «involving civilians.» Then he quickly added, «Let me scratch that. There's been no discussion of nuclear weapons. That's not on the table.

VICTOR DAVIS HANSON ON Obama’s Pakistan Invasion: “Apart from the notion that it would be as hard to distinguish civilians in a Waziristan from terrorists as it is in Iraq, which the senator has written off, other questions arise. As a US Senator why not now introduce an October 11, 2002-type resolution, authorizing such an invasion? Or why hasn’t he in the past? Obama has criticized Sen. Clinton for her approval of that Iraqi authorization, but the sort of action he is envisioning involves crossing into a nuclear Islamic country, one bullet away from an Islamic republic, and surely should be a question for Congressional approval.”

Hillary is going to shove that statement up his butt. When she does it is going to really irritate the left over at the DNC underground and the kooks at Kos.

He’s fumbled the nuclear football then.

He’s offered any nation that launches a nuclear strike on the US a “free shot”. No nuclear response.

And military invasion would prove unpopular.

Would he work to disarm our nuclear arsenal?

It may be with great reservation that a President would want to go to war, but EVERY President should be prepared as Commander-in-Chief to GO to war. It comes with the office.

He's a fool. Let's put it this way, Big-Eared 'bama: if JFK told the Kremlin that he'd never use nukes under any circumstance, do you think they would have been more or less likely to launch against us?

There's a reason M.A.D. (Mutually Assured Destruction) worked... both sides knew the punishment for launching.

Sounds like that little ditty from Dukakis, “What would you do if your wife was raped and or killed?
Would the death sentence then be appropriate?

Unbelievable. The guy just writes off a half-century of deterrence with a single statement. So much for that candidacy. I don’t think Hillary! would touch him with a ten foot pole even as a VP nod (not that she would have anyway).

Talk about a perfect illustration of how the far left has taken over the RATS. This moron gave the knee-jerk far left answer to please the Kos crowd, then realized what a stupid thing he said and tried to take it back. Too late, Obama, the whole world saw you crap[ in your mess kit.

I think Biden is going to get the VP nod if Hillary wins the nomination.

I recently took that politcial quiz that determines what candidate you are most likely to support based on issues.

Biden came in the closest of all Dems with a -7

During WWII and towards the end, we had to break the will of the people in Japan and Germany to fight. It got to the point that we couldn’t determine who was military and civilian. Consquently, the fire bombing that killed many more than the A bombs in Japan. This broke the will of the people to fight. Obama is a fool and just doesn’t get it. He shouldn’t even be allowed to visit the Oval Office, let alone occupy it.

My guess has always been that Hillary! will look at the electoral map and see what states she could win that weren't won by the 'Rats in 2000 and 2004, which have 'Rat governors, and could be relatively close based on the '00 and '04 totals.

Given that, there is one state that stands out like a sore thumb: Ohio. It went blue in the '06 elections and has a 'Rat governor. It went to Bush in '04 by a smaller margin than '00, so it is trending 'Rat by most measures. Flip OH to the 'Rats, and keep everything else Gore and Kerry won in the prior races, and Hillary! is in.

Another possibility might be VA, but the margins there for Bush in '00 and '04 were greater than in OH. So in a close race, tipping one crucial state to the 'Rats will do it. I think Hillary!, being the calculating schemer she is, will base her VP pick on that. In any case, it won't be Obama. He brings nothing to the table that she doesn't already have (e.g., the black vote).

Of course, come '08, if things then look like they do now, Hillary! won't have to worry about tipping a single state. It will probably be a 'Rat tsunami.
