Since I never watch TV, I’ve never actually seen or heard O’Reilly’s show. What I know about him I know mainly from FR. And it’s not that hard to separate out the reasonable comments from the less thoughtful ones.
Evidently he has a big ego. But let’s not get too carried away. He does us a service by pushing some conservative issues that the MSM won’t touch, although he’s weak on others. The Swift Boat patriots come to mine. No, he’s not perfect, but there are a lot real enemies out there, so why not cut him some slack?
In fact, he seems to have picked this fight, when he would have done better to ignore any thoughtless comments about him. He’s a public figure; doesn’t he understand that public figures have to take a certain amount of flak? But I don’t see any point in esclating the fight. Let it lie.

He trashed the Swift Boat Vets, sucking up to kerry for an interview he never got.
