Star Parker: Dems try pumping life into liberalism

I believe that reasonable people look at facts and draw rational conclusions.

It's why I am mystified at the open and passionate embrace today by the Democratic Party of plain old, unadulterated liberalism.

Being labeled a liberal 15 years ago was the kiss of political death. Today's Democratic presidential candidates seem to wear it like a badge of honor.

Or perhaps I should qualify this to say that the programs and ideas they're selling are pure garden-variety liberalism. Maybe they are less enthusiastic about the liberal label.

A popular term of left wing spin-meisters these days is "progressive."

Liberalism did not fall from favor like an out of vogue restaurant or some fad. It lost its glow because facts show it doesn't work.

“the open and passionate embrace today by the Democratic Party of plain old, unadulterated liberalism.”

Exponential spending spree in Congress has just begun, taxes will be going up significantly after the next election.

Demowaps know they have the MSM at their beck and call to manipulate the electorate.

Todays electorate is not a thinking electorate. It has no clear idea of what "liberalism" is in the classic sense, and the destination to which it ALWAYS leads: illogical, emotional, irrational voting patterns, based on a concern for the individuals economic benefit as opposed to what is best for the nation, to wit: a divided nation.

And it all has begun with an MSM falso populist movement against the war in Iraq and a social movement to bring the USA into the socialist model of most European nations and the UNited Nations.( We must be liked by Europe and Asia!)

Dimobrats have nothng to lose by proclaiming classic liberalism , in answer to the natural conservative trend in the electorate which has successively elected 2 Republican governments that generally did not understand the importance of the conservative mandate given them.

No its showdown time, and the fur will fly. We have a divided Congress, and bipartisanship is just another dirty word, as the Dems seek ANY avanue they can , to seize power ( witness the latest vote manipulating fiasco in Congress.)

The Dems need to be defeated at the polls resoundingly, based on the naturally conservative bent of the electorate during these difficult times.

Clinton will be the only loser in the next election, Democrats will amaze with their avenue to hold Congress.

You may very well be right there, but the fight will be unlike what we have experienced for a century: bitter, down and dirty politics in the trenches....with the MSM caterwalling in support of the Dems 24 hours a day.

Very accurate, and very well said. I think additional important factors affecting the electorate are the class envy and racial divide that have been encouraged by democrats using wedge issues to pump up their base and get elected. In the “Land of Opportunity” the democrats have labeled those who have seized opportunity and achieved better lives as ‘the rich and privileged who are suppressing the rest of you’. Unfortunately, this has played very well in too many quarters.

You flesh out the whole thing quite nicely.

I believe that progressive politics , as they are called, is a very serious threat to the culture, economy and security of our nation.

It will be a bitter, bitter fight in 2008.

I'm not so sure. I'm seeing indications lately that the Drive-By Media is getting a little tired of carrying the water for people who think it's still 1969.

That's been very bad for their business lately.

Liberals are socialist sociopaths..
Socialism is Slavery by Givernment..

It is also a Cargo Cult.. with an ideological Idol and strange cargo..
A religion with a strange primitive God.. to replace a more sophisticated one..

Preaching Separation of church and State, except when the state becomes the church..

Here is the home for progressive politics, a favorite of Ms. Clinton, The Third Way. When you take the (Democratic Socialists of America) and the ( Third Way) strategies side by side, there is very little difference. Both seem heavy in Social Engineering and elitisms, both are far, far from what the Founding Fathers intended, they gave us a Republic, not Socialism or Communism. As they feared…..are we losing that lovely form of government, the Republic?

Not true. Hillary ran away from the liberal label in a debate earlier this summer. Liberals still can't tell people who they really are.

That's been very bad for their business lately.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> It will be a bitter fight , the nation will be divided, unless conservatives steer the ship of state against the diatribes of the MSM, and lays the cannons on them. Free Republic will be a part of that, so man the halyards, Captain Jim Robinson and his Freeper Conservative Pirates are about to sail the electoral Main!

It will be a bitter, bitter fight in 2008.

Maintaining freedom in all its forms, calls for a strong resistance to Progressive and Socialist forms of government 24/7. The Democratic Party is now the Democratic Socialist Party and championed by the MSM. Being a conservative can be dangerous to your health...as there are no "two sides" to the debate...any debate. Witness Pelosi today after the debacle yesterday, she said simply, “…we’re moving on and that is that.”

No Ms. Pelosi, “that isn’t that”, you and your fellow Socialists/Progressives are not going to expunge our Republic as easily as you did the vote yesterday……………

Close.

We don't see a thinking electorate, aware of what liberalism ('progressive') is precisely because today's students are not shown what 'progressive' has achieved in the past. Socialism is presented as the middle ground - with nasty communism and evil capitalism being the equally bad alternatives.

You can find irrational voting patterns, or asinine governance made holy by popular acclaim, on both sides (airline deregulation, your telephone bill). What liberalism does promote is a general belief something like 'it is OK, the government will make up the difference', or 'it is OK, Social Security will keep me afloat', or 'it is OK, I'm sure they know what they're doing'...

What 'progressive' does is entitle government to experiment, to expand, and to gather up the reins on society...because 'it is for our own good'.

Economics are not even given center stage, that is reserved for a mystic 'everyman' who is loaded up with rights and benefits that don't show up in reality and with 'safety nets' that prove to be more of a net than a safety.

Finally: the divided nation is only a strategic necessity on the way to a goal ('ends justify means'). It is an easy way to divide the populace now in order to expand restrictive measures tomorrow - the end result is a nation totally unified in its acceptance of the dictates of a power structure isolated from any form of voting pattern because only one pattern is acceptable.

Norton, you are absolutely right.

Machiavelli couldn't have said it any better.

And we all know and fear those restrictive measures: Gun Control, control of internet speech, demographic control through immigration,.....the list is long as you know.

A bitter fight. And we must win.
