Tommy Thompson supports the fairtax, and he has a better chance of winning the Hunter. Two of the last three republican presidents were governors. One president was elected while he was a U.S. rep., James Garfield, in 1880.

They are not mutually exclusive. In fact The Fair Tax directly addresses controlling spending. If Congress increased The Fair Tax rate too much it would result in a decrease of consumption by consumers/taxpayers. The federal government would experience a corresponding decrease of taxes collected. This basic concept dates back to a founding father and first Secretary Of The Treasury, Alexander Hamilton. To quote:

"It is a signal advantage of taxes on articles of consumption that they contain in their own nature a security against excess. They prescribe their own limit, which cannot be exceeded without defeating the end proposed-that is, an extension of the revenue. When applied to this object, the say in is as just as it is witty that, "in political arithmetic, two and two do not always make four." If duties are too high, they lessen the consumption; the collection is eluded; and the product to the treasury is not so great as when they are confined within proper and moderate bounds. This forms a complete barrier against any material oppression of the citizens by taxes of this class, and is itself a natural limitation of the power of imposing them. "

I say let’s fight for the strongest conservative, Duncan Hunter! He CAN win, if enough of us want the best, badly enough.

Remember how we grassroots folks stopped the amnesty bill.

Together we can make a difference, along with a positive attitude.

Tommy Thompson is a stronger candidate. In a straw poll, in Linn Co., Iowa, the second-most populous county in Iowa, Thompson won, with 33%. I haven’t heard of Hunter receiving more than 3% in any national poll or straw poll.

While Tommy Thompson was a governor, for 14 years, he proved that he’s pro-tax cuts, pro-spending cuts, pro-life, pro-capital punishment, pro-gun rights, and anti-gay marriage. He says that he wants to deport more illegal aliens.

Sorry, but I don’t support candidates by poll #’s; I support the BEST candidate.

Rudy is a stronger candidate than Tommy Thompson. Does that mean I should support Rudy? No way!

btw, John Kerry was only 4% in the polls with 3 weeks to go.
