By the way, I'm in no way disparaging the wonderful rhythms of the earlier jazz and swing artists and bands -- they were terrific -- but only that modern rock seems to have a better ability to catch and hold today's youth. The early-jazz radio show I like listening to (a local DJ is a Bix Beiderbecke fan) has 1% of the audience of the rock programs...
