Well since Wally World doesn't sell fireworks, there goes the "fireworks" defense.
Does WM sell black powder? I guess they'd have pretty much everything else you'd need, if you needed that, other stuff can be made to go boom too.
Wouldn't be surprised to find there "fireworks" had been laced with nails, nuts and/or screws. That's pretty typical for a Jihad special, at least in Israel. I also won't be too surprised if it turns out the "Egyptian" is really a so called Palestinian. The one from Kuwait could be as well, since the Kuwaitis imported a bunch of them for "menial jobs", which to the Royals would be anything that was real work, physical or otherwise. and treated them "poorly" (Palis in Kuwait supported the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait), although not as poorly as similar menials who were non Muslim. I'm not familiar enough with Arabic regional names to know. jveritas might know though, so I'm pinging him. (Ahmed Abda Sherf Mohamed (from Kuwait) and Yousef Samir Megahed (from Egypt) ) That would fit with the former USF prof Sami Al Arian, who pleaded guilty to aiding Pali terrorists. (Al Arian is also from Kuwait)
Apparently it did, but I was wondering the same thing myself.
Sounds like just a couple of undocumented terrorists bent on blowing up things Americans won’t blow up...
“suspected to be explosives”
—Pig Sh*t?
“of possible Mid-East origin”

Relax folks, just your tax $ at work. Nothing to see here.

Youseff Megahed (center), 21, and Ahmed Mohamed (right), 24, appeared at a bail hearing with attorney Dennis Rhoad on Monday in Moncks Corner. The two are charged with carrying explosive devices.
Prosecutor says Egyptian students had pipe bombs in car
MONCKS CORNER Two Florida students accused of having pipe bombs in the trunk of their car when they were pulled over in Goose Creek are “confused and scared,” their attorney said Monday.
Yousseff Megahed, 21, and Ahmed Mohamed, 26, both Egyptian citizens, were calm and polite in Berkeley County bond court. They were charged Monday with carrying explosive devices, which is a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
The weekend arrest drew national attention, because the U.S. Naval Consolidated Brig, a military prison where enemy combatants are held, and the Naval Weapons Station are nearby. An FBI spokesman said the two are not suspected of being part of a terrorist plot.
The leader of a Muslim advocacy group who has been talking with Megahed’s family said the two were heading to North Carolina to celebrate Mohamed’s birthday, which was Sunday.
“Family members are very concerned, shocked about what has developed,” said Ahmed Bedier, executive director of the Tampa chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
The contents of the trunk might have been part of the celebration, he said.
Mohamed asked for a chance to speak at Monday’s bond hearing and said he was carrying fireworks in the trunk. Magistrate Ava Bryant Ayers reminded him that the bond hearing was to determine whether they were flight risks and not to talk about details of the charges.
Ayers set a $300,000 bond for Megahed and $500,000 for Mohamed. Solicitor Scarlett Williams argued that the two were flight risks. A hearing on the charges is scheduled for Oct. 5.
An affidavit from the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office said officers from the bomb squad determined that pipe bombs were in the trunk. Pipe bombs are homemade explosives, and making or having them is a felony.
Mohamed told the arresting officer he used materials he bought at a Wal-Mart, according to the affidavit.
The two were pulled over about 5:30 p.m. Saturday near U.S. Highway 176 and Myers Road in Goose Creek. Their attorney, Dennis Rhoad of Charleston, said he had not had a chance to ask them why they were in Goose Creek.
Rhoad said the pair understands the seriousness of the charges and that they are “confused and scared. ... They take the charges seriously.”
A Berkeley County deputy said he pulled over the 2000 Toyota Camry for going more than 60 mph in a 45 mph zone. Megahed was driving. Mohamed was using a laptop computer in the passenger’s seat and closed it when a deputy approached, Berkeley County Sheriff Wayne DeWitt said.
The deputy asked to search the car, and the two consented, DeWitt said. When the deputy asked if there was anything in the car he should be aware of, the men said there were fireworks in the trunk, DeWitt said.
The laptop, along with everything else seized from the car, was handed over to the FBI for processing, DeWitt said, declining to elaborate on what they seized or the specific materials found in the trunk.
The FBI also wasn’t saying anything definite about what they found. “Right now, we’re still in the investigative stages,” said Denise Taiste, an FBI spokeswoman in Columbia.
Both men are students at the University of South Florida in Tampa.
Megahed told the court he’s a full-time student working on a degree in mechanical engineering. He said he is a native of Egypt, has been in the United States for four years, is a legal resident and recently applied for American citizenship. He said his parents and brother and sister live in Tampa. He said he has been working at a mental health clinic while in school since the first of July. Before that, he worked at a Chevy car dealership and a Jiffy Lube, he said.
Mohamed said he also is an Egyptian citizen who has been in the United States since January. He said he is a teaching assistant at the university while working on his doctorate in civil engineering. He has no relatives in the United States, he said.
Charleston police are profiling....better watch out for the ACLU and Pelosi.
“The leader of a Muslim advocacy group who has been talking with Megaheds family said the two were heading to North Carolina to celebrate Mohameds birthday, which was Sunday.”
“We always celebrate Mo’s birthday by blowing things up,” said Ahmed.

Thank God for that! These are two bad characters with mayhem in mind.
No it won't, because the Blues control the government, and therefore the Army. As long as the Army is loyal to the government, the Blues will win in the end. When the "balloon goes up", expect business as usual only more so. It'll be like 9-11, only instead of having the TSA at the airport, they'll be everywhere, probably guarding the very mosque to which the "balloonists" will belong. And folks like you and me will likely be looking down the barrel of some very restrictive speech and assembly regulations. I will be surprised if Free Republic is allowed to continue in its present form after the next big punch.
The current state of affairs is the product of the existing social and political order. As long as the current worldwide power and money networks exist, the status quo will remain. Nothing short of a military coup in the United States (which will never happen) or the disintegration of our social order (which would require a nuclear war) will change anything on a fundamental level. Instead, we're just going to have to sit tight and ride the train to the bitter end.
CAIR claims that there would be no problem if it were “Good Old Boys” (That SB “Ole”) with fireworks. WELL IT WASN’T. It was “slammers with explosives, away from home near a military installation with repeated suspicious behavior at their residence. Hay, “CAIR” fit in or fly out!
I have not seen or heard anything about the press conference. I can’t believe how this story seems to be getting swept under the rug. These two guys were either terrorists or incredibly stupid. My bet is that they intended to do someone some harm.
I'll not speculate here, except to say that everything that goes BOOM requires an oxidizer, everything but nukes that is.
That’s an interesting report, but I do not think the FBI would tell a citizen that someone was a ‘terrorist’ if there was no proof. Maybe they were investigating activity.
Also, just because someone does not have a record, may mean they have not yet been caught in their new activities.
This is an interesting report because these two boys could very well be firework piro’s out to have a good time (not terror related, but unfortunately creating substances tht are not legal). Or it could be alot more. I hope we are able to get accurate information on this story. And I hope that if they are guilty, the PC stuff will not get in the way.
I’d also like to know what this ‘pipe’ was made of.
