MIL-IRAQ-KIRKUK-UNREST Three Iraqis in uniform injured, Syrian found dead in Kirkuk
IRBIL, Aug 4 (KUNA) -- Two Iraqi policemen were injured when their patrol hit an explosive charge, while a soldeir was shot, and a Syrian man was found dead, near Kirkuk Saturday.
The explosive charge targeted a patrol belonging to Al-Rashad police station in Al-Sinaei district, west of Kirkuk, a local police source told KUNA.
The attack injured two policemen who were hospitalized immediately.
Meanwhile, an army trooper was injured when unknown gunmen opened fire at a group of the Fourth Infrastructure Corps in Al-Sinaei district.
The wounded soldier was hurried to a medical center in Al-Bakarah military station.
The police found a Syrian national dead with no evidence for violence found on him.
The man, named Ibrahim Sabah Shahin, 40 to 45 years, is believed to be poisoned, according to police sources.
The police force of Al-Solaimaniyah, north Iraq launched a crackdown Friday evening in the city and arrested a number of young men on suspicion of belonging to Al-Qaeda terrorist organization.
The detainees whose ages range between 20 and 27 years came to the city from Al-Ramadi, Brigadier Hassan Nori, Chief of Al-Solaimaniyah police station told reporters.
They are suspected of belonging to Al-Qaeda organization and planning to carry out terrorist attacks, he added. (end) sbr.
