This is largely a scare tactic by the media, and a play for more tax money from the politicians.

I looked at that list, knowing many of the local structures. The criteria for ‘obsolete’ is anything less than absolutely brand new, apparently. What a load.

Agreed. I checked out the list for my FL county. There is an entire section listed for I-4 that has to be several years out of date because ALL of those bridges have been replaced or rebuilt in the past 5 years.

Exactly; one of those 'structurally obsolete' bridges is just down the street from my house. They just widened it.

Just another example of a federal agency trying to justify its existence by spewing report after report of chrome plated crap.
