Virginia Episcopal Bishop Peter J. Lee defrocked 20 of his former clergy, 18 men and two women, in a document signed Aug. 1, saying they had “abandoned” the church when they quit the denomination last year over the 2003 consecration of an openly homosexual bishop.

Kookier and kookier. How can you fire someone who has already quit? I am Episcopalian and I can't make any sense of so many things - but maybe I'm being too analytical.

I went from being a network news junkie to a CNN Crossfire addict to a Fox News fan (and only Fox) by 2000. But just the past year or so I’ve even stopped watching Fox News. I think that was during the histrionics by Shemp Smith and Gerry Rivers back during Katrina. I just could not take it anymore. That and the blondes, murders, and Hollywierd skank ho coverage 24/7.

Now the only time I watch the television at all is when my wife leaves on Fox and Friends in the AM when I’m taking my sh../shower/and shave.

I did turn it on to watch the Minneapolis bridge catastrophe only to turn it off after 5 minutes of Shemp’s constant moralizing about it.

Best place to get news? Right here on Free Republic.

Oh, and I'm a Rush 24/7 subscriber. It's worth the price to be able to listen at night.

It’s not incompetence Johnnie, they know full well what they’re doing.

They know the surge didn’t get spun up until the troops actually arrived, but to stretch it out further gives them more to work with for their meme that the war is lost.

The democrats and the driveby media are one in the same. At least ideological bedfellows. There’s even less air between the dems and the DBM than there is between Chuck Schumer and a news camera/microphone.

OK, that’s simply not true, but the Dem/DBM butt buddy relationship is a VERY close second!

FR is absolutely the best place to get info on breaking situations, usually well before the lamestream press even notices something has happened, and when they do they invariably get most of the details wrong.

If I want to get video on a breaking story I generally head to CNN as their coverage of live events is usually the best. They do more straight reporting of the immediate facts.  Their "analysis" programs, however, are really getting bad.  Cafferty, for example, is almost as crazy as Olberman.

Fox, particularly Smith (I love the “Shemp” label, though it’s unfair to Shemp Howard) is simply incompetent and totally unrepentant about it. Smith was horrible in Katrina, first downplaying it while the storm was hitting N.O. then going all hysterical with the wild rumors and false horror stories that were later discredited. He’s never apologized for the gross errors he made and still wallows in self congratulation over how “good” he was on that story. Delusional.

Steel firm owner jailed

The owner of Tarrasco Steel, a company that supplied workers on the Biloxi Bay Bridge, was arrested and charged with hiring illegal immigrants on projects in three states. Some had improper welding certification. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested Jose S. Gonzalez, 32, at his office in Greenville Thursday, according to a news release. Tarrasco Steel was hired as a subcontractor for rebar installation services to major bridge projects in Mississippi, Louisiana and Tennessee.
