Arizona Senator John McCain (R) has had little but bad news over the past month. His campaign is in financial trouble, most of his staff has left, and he sank to single digits for the first time last week in the race for the Republican Presidential nomination.
The latest Rasmussen Reports election poll shows that McCain still has some potential in general election match-ups. He has pulled to within two percentage points of the Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton. The former First Lady leads McCain 45% to 43%. A month ago, she held a nine-point advantage over the man once considered the Republican frontrunner. For all of 2006 and the first three months of this year, McCain led Clinton in all Rasmussen Reports polls. They were tied in April and Clinton has generally held the upper hand since that time.
Illinois Senator Barack Obama (D) holds a slightly larger edge over McCain, 46% to 40%. A month ago, it was Obama 47%, McCain 38%. Early in 2007, these candidates were essentially tied.

Now, who in their right or wrong mind would even consider voting for McCain?
McCain needs to give it up. Even if he flip-flops to positions many hold, all know he is a charlatan.
Note that typical MSM bias has the fact that both Giuliani and Thompson leading Hillary is buried in the report.
In case you haven’t noticed, McCain isn’t a quitter.
Being a quitter and having enough common sense to know not to piss into the wind are not the same thing. If Mc Rain thinks he can win he's pissing into the wind.
In case you haven’t noticed, McCain is toast.
Which is unfortunate, because he should have quit the Senate back in 2004.
He isn’t your senator.
Thank God.
Your welcome
He hasn’t flip-flopped on the War in Iraq.
Do you think Guiliani/Romney/Hillary/West Hollywood Freddy won’t flip-flop on the war?
No need to answer...they already have.
So what is the most important issue facing the country?
Campaign finance? Bridges?
Umm, no.
It is the only issue he has been rock-solid on.
And alone.
And this is the reason McCain should stay in the race until the end. His voice re: Iraq is a good thing for Republicans and the country.
Mcain may not be a quitter, but he’s also not a winner.
