ANGRY parents have blasted a teacher for telling ten-year-olds to copy a Muslim prayer saying “There is no God but Allah”.
Helen Green is said to have picked the Muslim call to prayer as HAND-WRITING practice.
It includes the lines “Allah is the greatest” and “I bear witness that there is no God but Allah”.
Pupil Billy Darbyshire’s stepmum Hayley Clayton said: “The explanation was that the children were learning about Islam in RE.
“But this was like he was taking an oath. A Muslim child would never be asked to write a Bible passage.
“Why didn’t she choose a passage from a normal story book to teach handwriting?”
Hayley, 23, said Mrs Green — deputy head of Newlands Primary School in Wakefield, West Yorks — had acknowledged it was a “sensitive issue” because three of the 7/7 suicide bombers came from Leeds, 15 miles away.
She added: “If it’s sensitive why choose that prayer?”
Billy’s angry dad Martin, 32, said there were no Muslims in the ten-year-old’s class. He added: “I am not religious but it offended me.
“It must have been worse for children whose parents do have different beliefs.”
Wakefield Council officials said they believed the prayer had been written for RE.
Forgive my ignorance but what is “RE”?
Religious Education ?
It is the first part of the 2-sentence Shahadat. Theoretically, a person declares himself a Muslim simply by reciting the Shahadat, and the Muslim community would accept him as Muslim. The second sentence is "and Muhammad is His Prophet." The teacher who taught this either has a hidden agenda to Islamize every kid or a total ignorant.

It would be great if any/all of the kids had the wit to write “Allah is Satan” in such impeccable handwriting that the squalid dhimmi teacher would be in quite a quandary about what to do....... penalize them for changing the assignment or applaud them for their excellent handwriting?

Why are they teaching Muslim religious education in public schools and where did the Wakefield Council officials get parental permission to do so?

I’m interpreting this as:
1. The students were learning about Islam in Religious Education (RE) sessions.
2. Helen Green was NOT the RE teacher; she was just their regular elementary school teacher, who happened to be teaching handwriting at the time.
3. She picked the Islam passage as handwriting practice ostensibly to “fit in” with their current RE curriculum — but quite possibly also with an agenda in mind. (To give her the benefit of the doubt, the name “Helen Green” doesn’t sound Muslim in the least, but maybe she is.)
4. Regardless of what is true in item #3, you don’t bring religion into the normal curriculum anyway, outside of RE. So she would have been in the wrong no matter what religious passage, from whatever religion she might have chosen. The parent was correct: In accordance with school policies, she should have just chosen a passage from a secular story book for handwriting practice.

My husband (a Brit) said when he was younger that different religions where split up and studied their own respective religion. My stepdaughter had to learn about all religions.

We find out quite often that the muslim name is withheld from the press and the "westernized" name is used. It was the case with the shoe bomber. It was the case with Charles Bishop/Bishra who flew a plan into a bank on purpose in Tampa.

Amherst, NH, is a white, affluent town near the MA border, whose public schools pride themselves on being “progressive.”
This Saudi Night was a result of one of the 7th grade “world culture” teachers participating in a 10-day professional development program called “Educators to Saudi Arabia”, where they visited Saudi public schools.
