Denmark leads europe in pork production. At least they did years ago. I believe only america produces more pigs than does denmark. And I think the danes invented indoor pig farming...that’s the practice of raising pigs in stalls in climate controlled sheds. Other modern farming methods not related to pork production came from denmark. I believe only the dutch can be credited with more historical farming advancements than can the danes.

The precast concrete industry in denmark is impressive. They build stuff out of concrete planks like we in america build out of plywood and two-by-fours. Everything is made out of it.

But what’s this about belgian chess players? I’ve never heard of that. You must be setting me up for a punch line.

Based on a book by micheal chrichton called “Eaters of the Dead”.

And that book is based on the Ibn Fadlan manuscripts, a muslim named Ibn Fadlan from the middle east that voyaged to the north on a mapmaking expedition in AD 922 and recorded what he saw.

That’s right, the movie “the 13th warrior” is supposedly based on real facts. Glamorized and embellished of course...probably to the point of absurdity.

Anyhow, the US per capita consumption of pork might be the highest in the world.

The best pork dish around is probably Italian ‘porchetta’. I’ve never tasted anything that even comes close (but I’ve heard the Spaniards know how to prepare pork too..).
