An awful lot of the pro-life sites and discussions I’ve seen often paint the portrait of a poor lass forced into the baby butcheries by her mean, selfish, abusive boyfriend, hubby, or whatever. Not to say I haven’t fallen into that assumption either. I still don’t doubt there are at least some women out there who abort because it’s what the man wants or it’s what her parents want.
That said, it often escapes pro-lifers who don’t want to appear “anti-woman” that there are plenty of women who abort because it’s what they want. As Ann Coulter put it, it’s women who are having sex with men they don’t want to have children with. How else to explain the “frequent fliers” who have several abortions?
As I get older, I figure the main reasons why these women kill their babies are 1) to avoid any permanent commitment with the father 2) they’ve done the mommy thing and don’t want to bother with it anymore 3) they hate kids and don’t want any or 4) they want to keep the career ladder unencumbered to climb and/or keep their lifestyles footloose and fancy free.
I pity any man who has had his child aborted, especially if it was done behind his back. Hey guys, a pro-life girl may not be as easy, but at least she won’t put you through this crap.
