VA-PW: Letters: Why can illegals bypass the rules?
Potomac News ^ | 2007-08-07 | Greg Cornell

Immigration is in fact a major problem in our county, state and country.

Until the laws are changed, we need to enforce and prosecute with the laws that are currently on the books. Ignoring the laws for immigration violations, whether it is the immigrants or their employers, is currently unfair to every American citizen that is expected to follow the law. At what point did we decide to pick and choose which laws we enforce.

We continually encourage illegal immigration by not enforcing the laws once they get here. We've allowed our social services, schools and communities to be overrun while we stand by and do nothing more than just pick up the tab.

Something that bothers me within our schools is that I have to provide a birth certificate and social security card for my children to enroll in school.

This is mandatory for me and every legal immigrant.

How and why are the illegal immigrants allowed to bypass this process? Our county rewards the illegal immigrants and punishes those within the law.

Letters to the Editor from Leesburg Today:

"Any concerns about giving them free tax-funded services are as much an indictment of the current welfare state as of immigration policies. In a system where humanitarian services are administered by private charities rather than government agencies and funded by willing contributors rather than coerced taxpayers, there would be no resentment." (Mike Carpenter, Sterling, 2007-07-25)

"The cost to our communities for the education and welfare of those here illegally is not sustainable." (Nathan Muller, Sterling, 2007-07-25)

"Civil rights should definitely not be confused with human rights. Civil rights are reserved for citizens, while human rights are reserved for all and reflect inherent value and inalienability." (Russell Munos, Potomac Falls, 2007-07-31)

"The perpetuation and enablement of illegal immigration is exploitation, is humiliating and devalues a person, and is counter-productive to a law-based society. The breakdown and failure of our government to enforce our own laws of immigration, and protect our borders, is not only disappointing, but also irresponsible and reckless." (Russell Munos, Potomac Falls, 2007-07-31)

"If we, however, simply stem the flow of social services to illegal immigrants and do nothing to enforce the hiring of this cheap labor source by businesses, we are just kidding ourselves. Because what that says is that we simply want cheap goods and services and low taxes as well. More of the old 'something for nothing' impetus." (S. Ann Robinson, Leesburg, 2007-07-25)

Yes, there were other letters, including some expressing support for illegal aliens, but I pulled only a few just to give folks an idea of the sentiment here in Loudoun and in Prince William.

Good question. We have to supply tons of ID when going about any transaction, yet they don’t.

We have to provide shot records when enrolling our children in school as well.

They are Undocumented..so they don’t have that stuff.

But if they need them..they just pick them up at the local forgery shop. The schools can’t check them.
Also..if you are hispanic in CA..you automatically get free lunch and the bus. No matter how much you make.

Why does my wife as a public school teacher have to promote Spanish speaking kids, even when they don’t know a word of English?

Good point.

At the very least, I thought they’d be required to go to the county health department for TB testing and to ensure their shots are up to date before being enrolled. I never considered them forging immunization records.

Things are out of control and so many, at all levels of government, just compound the problem.

So that we’ll all be speaking English as a Second Language in fifteen years?

Because we will need to have educated serfs.

I was speaking with a lady down in Texas who calls the parents at home during the year and tells them that their children will be passed because her District requires them to be passed not because they earned it.

She flat out tells them that their kids will be failures in life if they don’t start doing homework and learning English.

"We have to provide shot records when enrolling our children in school as well. Do illegal immigrants?"

No that would be racist. Laws are only for citizens.
