I don't think anyone would be nearly as upset if Bonds had "sharp cleats".

Yeah. Like he'd use 'em.

I’m not surprised by this at all. Performance enhancing substances (such as what Barry’s been acused of using) have been around since before Hank Aaron’s time, and players were using them back then too. I’m not condoning or making light of their use. Just commenting on the fact that the complaints aimed at Barry are primarily because these people hat Bonds period.

Especially revisionist history for the sake of defending a rich and arrogant roid-head. I’m sure Bonds cares that these clowns are sticking up for him.

Arizona will have a 19 year old player batting in the 9th for the cycle! He already has a home run, a triple, and a double, he only needs the single to go. He would become the youngest player ever to hit for the cycle.

He is due up third in the bottom of the ninth. He has only played a few games in the majors, but he has a .438 batting average with less than 30 at bats.

A lot of the guys in Aaron’s era were heavily into amphetamines

Amphs will keep you awake, but they're not performance enhancers.

Congratulations to Barry Bonds. To even hit a single in MLB is a significant accomplishment.

There’s a new homerun champion of all time and it’s Barry Bonds.

I wonder how many he could have hit with the Babe’s abuses? Six to ten hot dogs and beer DURING the game? Bonds would have been UNDER the stands.

(Cobb)Openly admitted to sharpening his cleats

Oh, give me a break! Thats not the same thing as pumping your body up with drugs so you end up looking like a freak , for starters. And by the way, Cobb's lifetime batting average was over 80 points higher than the league average, and he didnt do it by "sharpening his cleats".

Sheesh, youre gonna have to do better than that. Throughout history, even the great players went into severe decline when they hit 36,37. Oddly enough, thats when Bonds had his most fantastic years. What a coincidence!!

Another “shot in the arm” for Major League Baseball.

Only if it is Flaxseed Oil or Arthritis Balm.

What evidence do you have that Aaron didn’t use any substance to enhance his performance? Since no testing of any type occured in his days you can’t say he did not use something (and since amphetamines were heavily used in those days whose to say he didn’t join in?). Prove your ascertion either against Barry or for Aaron.
