VA-Fairfax: Not enforcing laws leads to immigration woes
The Fairfax County Times ^ | 2007-08-07 | Krista Noonan

It's sad to see the the proponents of the "grand immigration compromise" continue to blame the failure of its passage on American citizens who are "nativists" or "racists."

They have to continue to tell anecdotal stories of bigoted comments in grocery stores. They don't want to credit the American people, both liberal and conservative, for learning the truth against all attempts by Congress, the administration, and the media to try and tell us that the "system is broken," we the giant Superpower, can't enforce our laws, and so forth.

They now blame talk-radio for pointing out the ridiculousness and unworkability of the proposal. And many of the senators like Feinstein, Reid, Graham, Lott and Spector continued to profess their arrogance that "we didn't really read the bill," that amnesty for unspecified millions of people was a good thing.

They won't even admit that the real reason the American people were so upset is because no one has enforced our law since the last 1986 amnesty.

Americans don't want citizenship to be mocked and given away to millions to serve a political agenda of ethno-centric groups, or a political party. Many senators were outraged at citizens expressing their constitutional rights by calling and e-mailing, but expressed no outrage at the mass demonstrations last year by illegal aliens and their supporters that called America names, raised the Mexican flag in place of the American flag in some places, and demanded rights as if they had the same Constitutional rights as citizens.

They did it with impunity because they know that our laws aren't enforced. Americans are tired of this, and the effect it has on our communities; obviously where the senators do not live.

Americans are tired of excuses as to why our immigration laws aren't enforced. All the outrage by certain senators was aimed at their constituents for "daring" to express their rights in democracy. No outrage was expressed at our culture being undermined by those who think it is unimportant to assimilate, to learn English, to respect housing code laws, and to pay taxes. No outrage at the death of citizens killed by criminal illegal aliens, or towards those who steal identities of citizens to collect service benefits or gain employment.

Our elected officials are suppose to make decisions based on what is best for the country. They are not doing it in the immigration debate so far.

They need to put away their tired rhetoric of blame and accept the fact that we don’t want their ‘solution.’

We are indeed tired of their patronizing tones and foot-dragging on enforcement.

But they can begin to mend fences by building the one that matters.

WOW! Even blue Fairfax is starting to wake up a little! Now of Arlington (even bluer) will wake up (not that I’m holding my breath). Arlington makes Fairfax look like Jessie Helms country.
