A new letter purportedly written by the author of terrorist threats against Goldman Sachs claims the whole thing was a hoax "conceived by three misguided teenagers."

The four-page letter, hand-printed in red ink on lined paper just like the original batch of 40 letters mailed to media outlets around the country in June, was sent to a Daily News reporter last month and immediately turned over to federal investigators.

I believe a mention of using furniture polish to wipe fingerprints establishes it was written by the same person.

It does look like it is written by a girl. The parents would have to know that the fact that the (likely current or recent) Goldman Sachs employee has a teen who said to be an A student would make it much easier to locate them. So if it is for real they definitely should call in and reveal themselves right away. Even the fact there are two parents is narrows the field. Plus, the kids will have emailed or text messaged each other. The parents would have called each other frantically. Might be resolved within 72 hours so they best call now. Anything they do now to destroy evidence will be obstruction of justice. If things continue, there will be 9 guilty of a crime rather than 3.

The letter says the “kids” say they got the directory of addresses from the public library. Gale’s Directory of Publications would have all the addresses.

Now if it is not for real but written by teh same person, it is even more interesting and curious.

If you go to the linked article, there are GIFs of a couple of the pages from the letter. They're pretty small, but legible.

My favorite sentence is “We are writing these identical letters to a couple of reporters covering the story and the NYPD, because we truly beg you not to pursue this matter further.”

Yeah, right. ;-)

This web site has images of ALL the letters, plus an analysis of the entire situation: www.anthaxinvestigation.com/GS-thoughts.html

I doubt any teenager is going to write 70 letters by hand, and address 70 envelopes by hand, just for a joke. That requires someone who is really obsessed in some way.
