Actually, it’s singular, “Mill”. ;-)
Anyway, I feel for you. Is this why you left? Or other things?

If that burglar spill his tea on his lap and scalds himself, you could still be held accountable...

Police say "following an exchange of words" the 43-year-old suspect fell from the fourth floor window on to the pavement below.Sticks and stones may break your bones, but words will fling you out of a third floor window.

There was a case some time ago where a homeowner in England shot a burglar and was put on trial for murder—I forget what the result of the trial was.

It must really suck to live in England now. I’m glad I saw it in better times.

A 4-floor fall is only 30 ft??? Are the ceilings unusually low in England? Sometimes I come away with the strangest questions after reading an article.

If it was here in the US the builder would no doubt find himself liable and the building codes would be updated to limit the max height of balconies to 3’ before safety nets must be installed.

The Brits freed the burglar, locked up the homeowner for a few years, and the burglar sued. The homeowner’s name was, I think, Tony Martin.

Click the link. It’s the 3rd floor he fell from (there is a sub-floor below)...
Although there is a Courtyard Mariott Ad in the page that worries me...

Disgusting.
We just had a local TV station say that a guy was 'murdered' when he was shot while breaking into a home. I'd complain to them about it, but I've done that before on other stories, and they always respond with a boatload of excuses why they chose to report as they did. Seems pointless.

Don't forget he fell from the floor or window ledge level on the fourth floor. If we assume he fell from floor level, it's 10 ft per floor. Fall from 1st floor: 0 ft, second floor 10 ft, third floor 20 ft, fourth floor 30 ft, burglar falls from 10th floor: priceless!
With the harsh new EU metrication policies, though, all burglars are now required to fall in meters rather than feet, under penalty of a prison term. The burglary itself is no problem.

Now the burglary itself poses no legal liability becasue the burglar is a “POS” or Person of Oppressed Stature.

Assuming for a second that he pushed him out fo the window, where is the crime?
The perp was a burglar and could have been out to hram or kill him and his family!
This is utterly insane.
