Grandi appealed to the Palestinian Authority, Israel and all other parties to open the crossings, saying failure to do so would lead to disastrous consequences, an atmosphere of hopelessness and despair in which extremism likely to take hold. Well then, they better act fast. We can't have "extemism" take hold in Gaza, no siree.

...said Filippo Grandi, the deputy head of UN Relief and Works Agency, the international body responsible for Palestinian refugees. Grandi's job -- indeed, his whole organization -- is dependent upon Palestinians.
And has been...for sixty friggin' years.
If it were not for the UN and foreign aid, these people would no longer be "refugees".
Liberals ruin everything they touch.

"..Strip risks becoming virtually 100 percent aid dependent and isolated within a matter of months or weeks if the present regime of closure continues, says deputy head of UN Relief and Works Agency.."
What else is new? The entire, "Palestinian State" is nothing more than a super violent, "Pruitt Igo" type welfare project. The purpose of Palestinian children is for Islamic cannon fodder. There are few economic opportunities for the young people. The future of these people is grim and it is their fault.

In the Katif Blocs unique hothouses, a uniquely developed advanced technology was used to grow bug-free leafy vegetables and herbs answering to the strictest health, aesthetic and religious requirements. Most of the chemical-free organic agricultural products were exported to Europe. In addition, the community of Atzmona had Israels largest plant nursery, and with 800 cows, the Katif dairy was the second largest in the country.
The total sum of exports from the greenhouses of Gush Katif, which were owned by 200 farmers, came to $200,000,000 per year and made up 15% of the agricultural exports of the State of Israel.
The combined assets in Gush Katif were estimated at $23 billion.
Of Israels total exports abroad, Gush Katif exported:
95% of bug-free lettuce and greens
70% of organic vegetables
60% of cherry tomatoes
60% of geraniums to Europe.
The Economic Cooperation Foundation, which is funded by the European Union, agreed to purchase the hothouses for $14 million and transfer ownership to the Palestinian Authority, so that the 4,000 Palestinians employed to work in them could keep their jobs.
Former head of the World Bank, James Wolfensohn, contributed $500,000 of his own money to the project.
When the IDF left Gaza, thousands of Palestinians looted the area, and 800 of the 4,000 hothouses were left unusable.

Let Hamas house, feed and provide jobs for a restive Gazan population. Its not Israel's responsibility to provide sustenance to a deadly enemy sworn to annihilate her.
