WASHINGTON — Taking military action against Iran could put President Bush on a collision course with Congress , leading Democrats and a Republican lawmaker cautioned Friday following Bush's threat of unspecified consequences for alleged Iranian meddling in Iraq .

It's been the consensus for months among the Democrats who hold the majority that Bush must get congressional authorization before any military strike.

But the authorization would be no easy sell. Two knowledgeable U.S. officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity because intelligence on Iran is highly classified, said that the administration so far doesn't have "smoking-gun" evidence that could be used publicly to justify an air attack.

It would not surprise me to hear that in this group a similar consensus exists that the world is flat. In neither case would this consensus opinion be true. It is my understanding that the President is always accompanied by a guy with a so-called 'nuclear football', and that at any time he could simply push a button and make a military strike. There is nothing that a consensus among Congressional democrats can do to stop this strike!

Yes, if our USA continues to have no will to fight earlier in order to fight with less violence. I've tried hard to do a very small part to keep the situation from going on into future confrontations involved the airburst kinds of nuclear weapons.

I'm sorry that our leadership and their richest constituents (money-contributing voters) don't want to get it done sooner and with less suffering. Like spoiled children, too many of our people don't want to fight until many of them actually get hurt, or until one of their favorite European vacation places gets badly hurt.

The Left of course, says Iran is nothing to worry about. Waiting til Ahmedine-nazi gets ahold of nuclear weapons. Then we will wonder why President Reagan didn't nuke Teheran back in 1981 when he had the chance to avenge the mullahs taking of American hostages. Its time for President Bush to correct that colossal mistake in judgment - for the sake of history and for the sake of our country.

So I guess the murder of our troops, that the left said they support, is not a smoking gun. Videos of Iran made explosives. After 9/11 they voted twice for the President to do whatever he wants to protect the US.

"intelligence on Iran is highly classified, said that the administration so far doesn't have "smoking-gun" evidence that could be used publicly to justify an air attack.

The necessary intelligence is being held back by the enemy within. The CIA has too many Clintonistas and they are doing everything they can to keep a Bush success in the Iraq war from happening. Iran has been caught red handed supplying weapons and men in Iraq. Seventy three percent of the killings have been from Iranian operatives in Iraq. The necessity for the military strike on Iran cannot be stronger. The evidence for Iran's part in Iraq is part of the big cover-up. It is time to take the paper out of the tiger and fire up the cruise missiles and stealth bomber. It is Iran;s time to go.
