The Hadith along with the Sira (or holy biographies) form what is called the Sunnah.

The Sunnah + Koran = holy islamic text and the source of sharia law.

Those who keep reciting the mantra "Islam is a peaceful religion" are indulging in wishful thinking.

Islam was born as a warfare cult, expanded by warfare and has never thrived except through warfare.

The only times that it has ever given the appearance of being a "peaceful religion" was when it had been beaten and occupied by better and more resolute warriors.
